Long hours on the computer and an obsession with cellphones are known to have serious repercussions. No wonder that repetitive stress syndrome (RSS) is fast assuming alarming proportions….
RSS has become a part of modern workscape. An umbrella term for a number of injuries affecting the soft tissues ( muscles, tendons, nerves) of the neck, lower and upper back, chest, shoulders, arms, hands and even legs..which basically comes from working long hours at the computer desk or even using cell phones..another factor leading to RSS is wrong posture at the computer table..it is suggested that the computer should be atleast 2 feet away from you and the top of ur document should be equal to or just below your line of sight…
Set up your keyborad so that it is flat rather than slanted down..you can use a 3 quarter inch support under the keyboard to accomplish this..
Always see to it that your wrists are straight and forearmas are parallel to the floor and your elbows bent at right angles while typing..
Don’t use excessive force while typing or clicking the mouse.
Rest your wrists when you are not typing
Take frequent short breaks while at the computer don’t read for to long..
Always strectch your wrists at frequent intervals
Apart from thisTMI ( text injury messaging) is the latest to the RSS ailments..caused by the excessive usage of thte thunb which could become pretty serious if not treated in time…it is characterized by crampa, numbness, tingling, stiffness or fatigue in the hands, thumbs or forearms…
Hope these suggestions help you guys…some of them are taken from a local newspaper…..
Dont let ur studies interfere with ur education!!!!!
