If someone volunteers to be experimented on than why not do so?

It's kind of hard to get the consent of the clone before it's even created. The ethical issues don't come onto play for the person who provides the genetic material, but for the clones we would create that in most cases would have deformaties, premature aging, and at the very least a signifigantly reduced lifespan. Perhaps in the future it would make sense but right now it's too much guesswork to risk that.

All the problems with cloning means all the more reason to experiment on humans. Smile

Cloning humans still doesn't bother me.

You do realize that cloning is far from a science at this point? There are many, many failed and deformed clones that are born or die before birth. There's also the issue of accelerated aging that was observed in Dolly and other clones. Human cloning is human experimentation, and we've generally decided as a society that that's a crime against humanity.

That's why I said cloning...

Yes I have seen Gattaca. Cloning humans still doesn't bother me.

There is some man who is "supposedly perfect". It was on the Science Channel. He was raised by scientists. They basically picked a kid with the best genetic makeup and gave him the ideal diet, environment and education. When he grew up he became a geneticist. He also is a sperm donor and countless women want him to father their kids because his genes are "near-perfect."

I don't like AI, but I really don't care about human cloning.

Sigh- You know what I don't understand? How could people be against cloning? It will help them someday (hopefully). GRR. Stupid religions and igrnorance are most likely the causes for any close-minded effects.

I'm sort of against cloning because the idea of manufacturing human beings sort of disturbs me on a fundamental level. Watch GATTACA or some other such film.

And you are aware that nobody, even the religous right (generally) is against adult stem cell research.

Yay! People responded. And the corner I was talking about is an actual corner in my room. So it doesn't wear makeup and it's not scantilly clad- it's sky clad.

I want to go to South Korea. And I really really would love to pet Snuppy. And I would love to be working on a "Clone-a-Human" project. I'd even volunteer myself as a surrogate mother if any were needed. Smile

yeah I agree with the doc and I must say, why waste tax dollars on this? really let the private sector do this it has nothing to do with running our nation as longh as it's legal Doctors may want in on it but the Gov doesn't need to be involved

I don't know, the way that corner dresses...plus it wears too much makeup, it's not very attractive.

Anyway, seriously I think that adult stem cell research is an excellent idea. However the embryonic stuff has not been proven to be signifigantly more effective, especially in light of the recent fraudulant research in South Korea.

Fine! No one respond!

I'll just go cry in that rather attractive looking corner.
