Why is it that people only seem to care about others in need when a Natural Disaster occurs? When Katrina happened, there were countless drives, countless donations made to the disaster relief fund, but not many ever really donate to people who live in bad conditions every day without ever having gone with a disaster. The same goes for school shootings, and for the wildfires going right now. Why do we only ever notice, why do we only ever care, when it's a big deal? Why do we let everyone else fall through the cracks?

It could also be that people are ignorant to what is happening in the world around them unless it is constantly being played on nation news, like Katrina was.

I think I must be because most people don't care. They don't care that someone is starving on the streets. When something sudden happens I think people are shocked out of their bubble. I think people could relate more to the victims of disasters.
