In Buddhism and Hindusim, the two religions where karma originates, we see a very specific usage of the word Karam. This is not so in westernised countries. What we see here is an original principle being warped and misused by the general western public.

Karma is the moral forced that you accumulate during your life time. This has no effect on your current life. However, the next time you reincarnate, you will be reincarnated as a lesser being, or one more prone to suffering.

What karma does not mean is 'what goes around, comes around'. This usage, which is used to justify all sorts of complete rubbish, is strictly wrong, and is a superficial and ignorant usage of the word karma.

I hope this has clarified somewhat the notion of karma. Please ignore my spelling, I am trying not to wake up my angry roommate, which means no more typing than necessary.

Only simple and quiet words will ripen of themselves. For a whirlwind does not last a whole morning, nor does a sudden shower last the entire day.

What that means, sudha, is that both work simultaneously (like your hands to) to shape your life.

You may be pre-destined to be a CEO of a major coporation, but YOU are the decider of how and when that happens, and what you're like when you receive that title.

Karma, as Brehon explained, refers to lives reincarnated, not this one life in particular. "What goes around comes around..." is just moral superstition that helps us sleep at night because we think our tormentors will eventually get theirs. It's a lot more Western/Christian than Eastern.

A lo hecho, pecho.

personall i have always been confused by the concepts of karma and what goes around comes around..Ive alwasy wondered which ones made more sense..

In hinduism there is another thing which confuses me...When someone reads your hand they say one hand is for the destiny your born with and the other for the one your making..So i never understand whether everything from biting your nails to me typing this sentence this minute is predestined or we make our own destinies...

Dont let ur studies interfere with ur education!!!!!

Have you ever paid attention in English class? Please don't ever talk like that ever again, especially to us vets or you will get creamed.

I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

Yeah, I feel ya man. Lately I've been studying up on Hindu due to a number of reasons I'm denouncing the people of the Christian faith (not the faith itself, just the people) and I'm finding out alot of cool stuff. So if ya wanna talk about, I'm here.
