Hi! I started this drive for people with STDs where I live, and I'd really like to have it go global. Could you help out by volunteering names for the project and doing drives where you are? I was thinking it would work like this: after you raise enough money, you donate it to a hospital or pharmacy to help people pay for medicine. So if you raise 200 bucks, the next 20 people to come in with STDs get a $10 discount.

Notsojoey, how would she know that he was hiding something? Okay, look, I am not one of those people who think fornication is just a little'fling'! It's gross and wrong and people shouldn't do it at all! But don't you realize that the STD and the discrimination that come with them are punishments in themselves? Love others as yourself, remember? You don't reward people for having STDs when you help them anymore then you reward a drug addict by sending him/her to rehab. Also, I know ten bucks isn't exactly a fortune, but the organization can grow and help people in more and bigger ways. The reason I want to start with STD patients is because a lot of these people, rape victims, fornicators and married people alike, have been made to feel as though this sort of thing makes them less than human and less entitled to help. Sure, there are some who get sick for being stupid, and they shouldn't be told it's okay, but helping others is our job, regardless of how they got into trouble! This is Youthnoise, remember? No person is too undeserving to be helped.

Listen, I have no problem with paying for the medicine of rape victims - which already happens. Almost all of these victims, regardless of age, get free treatment. Kids born with Aids because of their parents life style choices - I have no problem covering the cost of their medicine. Clpo is right, there are many scenarios where STDs can be contracted - but that doesn't mean others should bear the financial burden for them. Since that couple in your theory is married, the husband should pay for the medication - not the rest of society. Or perhaps the woman should have been intelligent to not get in bed with a man who neglects to tell his wife he has herpes.

Pessimists need not apply. As Caldera said, STDs happen to unwitting people, as well as those who are promiscuous. Perhaps a couple got married, but the man neglected to mention he had herpes, thus passing it on to his wife. There are many scenarios in which STDs can be contracted. Not all of them involve casual sex.
The more you know, the less you don't know.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I doubt a $10 discount for HIV/AIDS medication won't make much of a difference.

Clearly we are not talking about children who have been raped. I am talking about promiscuous adults. I will not help them.

Not interested. I think there should be some punnishment for getting STD's. That might be paying a regular price for medicine. Why should we subsidize poor choices?

No thanks, I have no desire to reward risky sexual behaviour. Maybe these people should have used a condom.
