Hi everyone, OK, so a year ago I created and now run with a friend an organization called Second Chance to help with all the homeless animals in the city here in the D.R. (Visit us at www.scso.co.nr)Up till now, we've raised funds by your average bake sales, recollections of donations, Cafepress store, etc. But I want to do something bigger.. a walkathon, readathon, any other ideas? Any ideas on how to do it? Oh- and for any graphic designers out there, I would greatly appreciate it if you would donate designs for t-shirts, messenger bags etc, that we could use on our Cafepress site online (mine are kinda pathetic ). Thanks everyoneeee, Kenza.

[QUOTE] Any ideas on what to offer up that's cheap and will leave ++ profit for charity?[QUOTE] Are there any businesses that you could talk to to ask for donations or gift cards or gift certificates to there? For example, if there is a restaurant, ask them if they will donate a gift certificate for one free meal there that you could give as a prize in your fundraiser. Maybe something along those lines would work.
I am a work in progress : I feel like I will never be finished.

Thanks Sonilala! The problem I mostly have here is that people don't see "viralatas" - street dogs - as they do breed dogs and don't feel compassion on them. A friend pointed out the other day that people will, however, pay to get something out of it if not for charity. Any ideas on what to offer up that's cheap and will leave ++ profit for charity? Thanks all, Kenza.

It looks like you've got a good thing started there. =) I'm not sure if all of the rules or whatever are the same because of the difference in countries, but ask the city? or someone in power (in charge of a park or something) if you are allowed to host a walk. Then you need to get a lot of volunteers to help out. Spread the word about it and get people to sign up to walk for so and so long. Make a sheet to collect pledges from businesses and other people and then collect donations and such. I'm not sure as to the climate in the DR at this time of year, but doing it in the spring might be a good decision and then it also gives you enough time to plan it out.
