My friends and I have formed a service group, of sorts, and we have some really good ideas to put into action. The only problem is the capital to put it all in motion. Any ideas on how to get some start-up money? I know there's fundraising, but any unique ideas for that? And how exactly does one go about asking for grants, because I feel like because we're not endorsed by anyone well-known people will seriously hesitate to front money because they don't know where it's going. We have the ambition, we're just unexperienced. Thanks much for any advice!!

YouthVenture (http://www.youthventure.org) is probably your best bet. They grant efforts such as yours money for free.

Maybe if you told like a teacher or someone older what you were trying to do they could help you to get organized and think through all your ideas and help you get started. Go to a local groacery store talk to the manager or owner and ask them if you could set up a jar at each register to take donations. Ive done that before to earn my trip to NYC and believe it or not it works. You could also make up some cheap little candybags and sell them. Remember where theres a will theres a way. Good Luck, and dont give up Im sure you'll figure something out.

well what we can do it under the name of the 'volunteer club' of the school. but i don't think that would help very much because funds are already spread really thin. thanks anyway, all

Prostitution.

Is it a group through school or something you're doing on your own? If it's just you and a bunch of friends doing things, getting grants may be impossible. Grants usually opnly go to clubs or organizations. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore
