"On February 8, 2008, Polaroid Corporation announced that it will discontinue production of all instant film. This site will document the aftermath of this announcement and will serve as a home-base for the effort to convince another company to begin producing the cherished technology that Polaroid has so carelessly abandoned.

This site is not about saving Polaroid, the company, rather the remarkable invention of Edwin Land, the instant film that made Polaroid a household name."

I was so very sad to read this news. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love digital photography. But there is a whole different art involving instant film and I think it's a wonderful invention.

If you're into instant film, or just a lover of photography(like myself), or would just like to help please visit this site for more information and ways to help.

Save Polaroid!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

If nobody wanted it, there wouldn't be sites like savepolaroid.com with so many people upset about the discontinuation of the film.

Anyhow, this thread wasn't started to debate whether instant film is wanted or not. I started this with the assumption that it is(I know of many). It was merely started to inform people about the situation and to let people know(those that care to help) ways to get involved.

If people want to help it will be greatly appreciated, if not, then I respect that as well.

The reason they aren't making it anymore is because no one wants/uses it. They aren't going to lose money on a product just because a few camera-toting "arteests" like to use it sometimes.

Nobody wants it, pure and simple.
