Ok, so I think this may already exist, but mostly I am frustrated with the lack of change and new topics on this thread and also this is nice for my post count and it's an interesting to think about. So I think everyone should say what they like to volunteer in and why. I love to volunteer at this camp for physically disabled children, I love it b/c it makes me feel good about myself and the kids are just so sweet.

I like volunteering with Search and Rescue, and at schools (helping the kids and stuff).

I'm trying to find a great place to volunteer, aside from all of the local assisted living centers. It seems like I am always at the ALC's... I have 2 part-time jobs, but I am only working 2 days a week. I talked to a woman from the local Congressman's office regarding an internship, but she said that they were not going to be taking any on until potentially mid-June. So...I figured I could just take this opportunity to do comserve all summer to get it all done and documented (I still need 86 hours before graduation). I do a lot of community service, I just feel bad asking people to sign something saying that I was there...

See the thread "Fallen Angels" it's right below this one in getting organized

I have been volunteering at a nature center where i raise moths and butterflies since i was 12. I love it! I even want to pursue this as a career one day, and possibly set up my own butterfly vivarium (which is like a museum where you walk in and butterflies are flying all around you). I'm a boy, so it's kinda weird , but I love the scientific aspects of bugs. They're amazing! My icon is actually a moth from Spain called Graellsia isabellae or the Spanish moon moth. It's about the size of your hand!!! If anyone's interested in seeing huge ass moths that I raise, look here: MothsI have also volunteered at a cat shelte since I was 7 years old (that's 9 years of service). I love gatos more than anything.

I like to help @ my local St. Luke's Hospital. I love to work with kids and it's such a rewarding experience. I love it when I go into the playroom and all the kids are lined up waiting for me to play with them or give them new toys and books.

I like teaching 1st and 2nd grade religious education at my church because it is SO rewarding! The kids are at that super fun age when everything is new and they say the darndest things! I also like doing political polling phone calls because you get so many hang ups that it makes it a miracle when you get a poll done! (It is also fun because you get so many people who don't answer their phones that you can just sit and talk to your fellow losers who are spending their Saturdays making phone calls...) Even though it doesn't directly HELP anyone, it is still fun!
