Hi all
I'm in a gifted and talented program in school, which basically consists of us doing a year long project. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a project I could do that helps people. Keep in mind, that I have about 8 months to work on it, so the project has to be pretty large.

I was a part of an intensive english/social studies 4 year program in high school that was very centered on global prespective and current events. The program culminated in a semester-long project that had to address a world issue on an international, national and local level. We were expected to do community service relating to the topic we chose, write a 12-15 page reseach paper and give a 15 minutes speech with 5 minutes of Q & A. My topic was elder abuse within nursing facilities. It was the most difficult project I've ever done (even after a year of college), yet it was so eye-opening and I really enjoyed it.

That sounds like a good idea. You could also try something about the detainees at guantanamo bay and racial profiling. Yaser Hamdi would be an excellent person to help in my opinion. If your not into that stuff, alright but if you are then this is a good thing to go with.

good idea bella...that could really get the word out...i don't know much of anything about the darfur genocide...maybe i should look into it and start sporting a shirt too.

Awesome. That is so cool, seriously. I have a sweatshirt that says "Save Darfur" and everyday i wear it, at least ten people come up to me and say "Who's Darfur?"

Well first off tell us more about your project. What is it supposed to be? You say its a project "that helps people." Hm? Is the project about fundraising? How do you want the project to help people? Give us more background.
