my friend and i both realized that we were really into helping other people, by volunteering at homeless shelters, running in marathons, and doing beach clean-ups; but that all makes us feel like a drop in the ocean, like we're only doing a very small part to help our world. so we decided to do our own thing to raise awareness and funds for a cause that was close to the heart, and we chose breast cancer (no pun intended); the problem is, we dont know where to start. school is starting up for the next semester, and that seems like a good time to start. does anyone have any ideas for fundraisers?? i would really appreciate your help!

If you live in the US, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation holds "Race for the Cure" at different major cities throughout the year. Go to www.komen.org to see the race in your area. Also, if you are 16 or over, you can participate in the Breast Cancer 3-day. You first raise $2100 for the Komen foundation, then enter the race where for 3 days you walk 60 miles. It's truly amazing. go to www.the3day.org to learn more. That's all I have to say. Thanks, -Claire

You could start something in your community that all the proceeds will go to breast cancer research. Since it is the holiday season and family and friends are asking you what you want for Christmas, you can always tell them that they could make a donation to breast cancer research. Here is another idea. Go to www.TakingItGlobal.com and sign up and stuff like that. With that site you can get more people involved and the message out.
I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

a lot of restaurants allow fund-raisers. usually they'll give you these fliers to hand out to people and on a certain day, people go to the restaurant with the fliers and a percentage of their meal goes to your fundraiser

You might try checking out the Take Actionpage which has lots of ideas and tool kits to help get you started.

You could sell bumper stickers and/or shirts. You could also have a cancer awareness week and collect donations from each home room.

You could sell breast cancer bracelets (they're like the Livestrong ones, except they're pink or multi-colored). Also, I like you're avatar.
What if what you think is great, really is great, but it's not as great as something greater?
