listen up ocd, instead of just writng letters to them , why dont u gather just a few more ppl and visit them at a home for the elderly...u'll can put up a show or play games with them, interact with them and teach them how to improve their lives,etc...u can do the same for orphanages, too Razz

You can always put up posters at your school, but ask the teachers first. You can even talk to your English teacher and ask if she would announce it to her other classes and give her your contact info to pass out. Put up posters of flyers around where you live.

Aah. The first thing I'd suggest, still, is talking with the assisted living complexes. Find out what they need, if they're willing to follow through with the program, and if you need advertising help, I'm sure they're more than willing to do so. If anything, you can ask family for help.

If it's something you'd like teens specifically to get into, find out about advertising with your school. When I was in high school, they let us put posters or flyers on the walls and in the offices. Once you get a flyer design going you can hang it up in other teen related places, like a pool or a music store, or I don't know, you know better than me what kids around you like to do.

I do live in a tiny room with no one to visit me. It's called an apartment with roomates who ignore me. But that's not the point. It's a good plan, but my opinion on old people aligns more along with the Giver than anything else, so I might not be the best person to write letters to them. If you're serious about this, I suggest getting involved with the assisted living places in your city and see if they have any ideas.

it's to be nice i remember when we had to put my grandpa in a home he was very lonely and he could have used someting like this so i guess it is to give them comfortand freindship some of these people don't have anyone visiting them. what do you think it would be like if you lived in a tiny room and never had anyone to visit you

I guess what I meant was, what are you trying to accomplish with this? Is it to make them feel important before they die, or to give them comfort, or what?

Moved to a better board.

In a situation where a moral decision must be made, we should always choose truth, in the expansion and enrichment of knowledge, in ourselves and others, and at all levels of our being.

in response to shade's comment

anything just keep it respectfull
you could start by telling them about yourselfand wrote your address so that they can write you back if the so choose
if they don't write you back you can write about things that have happend to you recently and ask thier opinion
if you have any questions about starting one of these groups in your area e-mail me at ocd_1234@yahoo.com
thanx Smile

Perhaps you should enter it as a project here on YN and recruit people from all over. Just go to your profile here and there's a section called "Projects" and you can enter it there. Put your information, like your email so that others who are interested can contact you to join. It's very kind of you to want to send letters to these people. I hope your project succeeds. Smile

What do you want to write to them?
