American Idol is the biggest joke ive ever witnessed. If your beutiful and have half a voice, your better than someone who isnt as pretty and has a dynamite voice. i know, sex sells and all but seriously. you cant expect people with half a brain to actually think that since your beautiful you can sing.

Figure it out yourself. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

it's not creepy. There are obvious reasons why there are more American Idol votes. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

It is true that kids can vote in American Idol and such, but this is nevertheless a creepy thought.

Hmm.. I really dont think thats relevent to compare that.. Considering you dont have to be 18 to vote for american idol.. and considering that you can vote more than once in the same nite... actually.. however many times you want to vote u can.. I know that in one nite last year, I voted about 7 times.. So really its pretty stupid to compare unless your going to give them the same rules for voting.. then you might have a point... SOrry guys.. thats the quote I ment to post with my lil thingy.. so just disregard my last post.. sorry bout that..

clpo13: Obviously, "disastrous effects" was reffering to the main idea of the thread. The effect of the show is the fascination with entertainment which unfortunately people seem to value more than even bothering with being involved in politics.

Come on Marine, people did not say that it was a good thing so many people voted for American Idol more than the election. As people have said for American idol voting is open to youths and you have more than one vote. Therefore, it is not surprising. It would be interesting to see a comparsion of the number of votes cast in the 2004 election to the number of single votes casts by people 18 and over for American Idol. Also, FML, you are smart. Not average. You are Princeton-educated, but more importantly your posts are well argued and show substance.
