Not many peopel here can vote anyways. And for not being able to vote, I think there are plenty of discussions on presidential elections and other actual legal things.

My high school is having an American Idol night. There's huge banner on the cafeteria wall saying, "Bring your cell phones!". Someone on the show goes to my school, I guess.

About the numbers, most people who vote on American Idol vote atleast twice. Your statistics would contribute more to your argument if they showed the number of people who voted, not the number of votes.

Oh, I'm sorry. I'll try not to be under-age anymore.

FYI: I did however vote in the mock election at my high school. And I will be able to vote in 2008, thank God.

You simpletons love your voting don't you? But only when you are voting in regards to MTV awards, Nickelodean Kids Choice Awards, Online polls about Survivor, and of course you democraic God...American Idol.

The thought of voting for something importan like the future of the free world causes you fools to laugh for a second and continue your debate about who is going to get axed next week on the Sureal Life on VH1.

You all deserve a nice big pat on the back.

I don't consider myself to be smart, I consider myself average. I simply consider the majority of you to be significantly below average.

Meh, I was being lenient. Truth is, I really don't like him. I was just trying to prevent a war from breaking out.
I think it's amusing too Razz

Neh.

I'd give him a D. Considering how hard he's tried to make people think he's smart. It IS quite amusing though.

There's a big difference between election voting and American Idol voting and that is you can vote more than once. You are not limited to one vote per candidate.
So let's see, there are millions of people who watch and vote on American Idol, most of them are minors unable to vote in presidential elections, they have more time to vote, and they're able to vote more than once for their favorite person.
That means that the total amount of voters may very well be the same amount of voters in the presidental election or close to it. We don't really have a way of knowing at this point (as far as I know, that is)
So in reality, this statistic isn't all that shocking or frightening when you look at the facts.
But I'll give you a B for the effort Wink

That didn't really shock me, but I'd like to see your source. If you figure that there are between 260 and 280 million Americans, how many must be underage to vote for the election? But still, I understand. America, land of the lazy but free...

Disastrous effects? I sure hope you're not talking about people who weep when Simon bashes them.

That makes a lot of sense how American Idol got more votes than the election. People simply don't care anymore who is the leader of our country. They have no say in what the prez does once in office. Oh sure, it's a democracy, the people choose what happens. Wishful thinking. We're becoming more of a republic where the leader does what he wants and that's that. Therefore, people would rather pick who they like to sing over the next president. As for me, I vote in neither.

That's ridiculous. It really shows America's priorities, eh? Personally, I don't even like American Idol, especially not its disastrous effects. Roll Eyes
