i came know about it threw my NGO.......

Well, I had no idea it was Global Youth Service Day, but I participated in a Relay For Life to raise money for cancer victims. Stayed up until 6am, one person from each team had to be on the track the entire time, got grouchy, sold some things to raise money, dressed a boy up as a girl to win a contest, etc.

The topic of Human Trafficking is close to my heart. Just last 2 weeks I was wrapping up an Internal Assessment for my final exams on 'The relationship between Human Trafficking and Child Labour', so I am very passionate about it. This week has been idealand I have taken the opportunity to spread the word to all my friends, acquaintances, relatives etc. It really is a great initiative as HUman Trafficking if not dealt wit immediately may become one of the most prevalent epidemics worldwide, it may soon rank with Human Genocide figures, or even AIDS statistics, so we should all take this opportunity to take action and stop human trafficking now!!!

By the way, I'll be working with the Polaris Project for GYSD. There are all kinds of things you can do for them, and you can pick to do a project from 5 minutes or ten+ hours. I'm doing research. You can find out more here: Polaris Project

Need any more ideas? The YN HP is usually full of stuff people are doing, or you could probably do a search for volunteer or fundraising on the site and come up with a bunch of ideas, too. If nothing else, you can always pick up trash or read to a kid!
