You want to honor September 11th? Learn something. Use your brain. Work to better your community. I understand some people can argue that school isn't the best place to learn. I don't care. You can learn something in school. So use that time you have, and use your brain. You want to honor those who died? Go on as business as normal. That's the biggest "Fuck You", you can give to any terrorist. Show them that you are unphased. By proxy, look those terrorist cowards in the ass, and give them the finger. Show those bastards that they won't stop the way someone does business, and their scare tactics won't phase you, and that no matter how many of you they manage to kill, you'll keep on going. That's an appropriate way to honor September 11th. But you don't need to skip school.
Cheated the way from fringe to elite. Clique of stylists, rounded illogic skipping a beat to a dead cert. By lheaving charges and bursting the abscess, with a forked toungue, bloated with courage and spewing self-importance. Drop your sights, aim lower, leave umblemished those with real power.

we do have a Pearl Harbour memorial day (Dec 9th duh) but we don't get time off for it, if anything should be done a moment of silence fits the bill just fine

That was going to be my point. 9/11 was tragic, but I think it's blown out of proportion. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

I think we should take it as a chance to learn about the war. Here about what is currently going on in Iraq and remember the Twin Towers bombing. Skiping school would only make you look like a bunc of punks with a badly timed ditch day.
It must be lovely to wake up in the morning and understand everything.

I agree with meagan. I agree that what happened was terrible but it just seems like the purpose behind this idea is not rembrance, but a way to avoid work.

No. PLEASE don't think that I'm being insensitive or cold by saying this. First of all...this sounds like something started by someone who wants another day off school... We don't need a national holiday in order to remember September 11...I don't know about you, but I don't think I will ever be able to forget everything about that day. We don't have a national holiday for Pearl Harbor, or for other specific tragedies in our nation's history. The US government will never declare 9/11 a national holiday...it makes us look weak to the people who caused it in the first place. Trust me, I'm sure that if a family member of someone who died on 9/11 feels compelled to take a day off work...they will get it.

Skipping school will only get you in trouble. Remember 9/11 in your own way; don't try to force anything to happen. Besides, I think 9/11 is a holiday of sorts. Perhaps not a "get out of school and work" holiday, but a day of remembrance regardless.
