Considering the fact that I've dealt with Special Needs (by this I mean those with Down Syndrom, Autism, etc) children all my life, I've decided to do something about it.
There are very little benefits and even less help for special needs children where I live. Most families are usually left to fend off for themselves, and of course many families can't afford proper care for their children, since the costs of shelters, medicines, etc really add up.
So my boyfriend (whose oldest brother is autistic) and myself (and my younger sister is autistic) were talking and we jokingly mentioned starting a website for their rights in this country, eventually building it up to maybe something more.
I'm asking for ideas that you have; I know many YNers are almost professionals in this type of thing. Any ideas at all, for funding, how to get the site up and showing up in search engines, how to get the government and the people to actually see the project (once most of it is done), etc would be appreciated.
