Hear, hear. Do you actually know your rights Re: the Pledge of Allegiance? Because this isn't the only post you have going about it. If it bothers you so terribly much, then don't say it. It's perfectly within your rights to do so (or not to, as the case may be). But the point is that nobody in this country is being forced to say it, so I'm really not sure why there's a problem. If you're out to protect our civil liberties, there are bigger fish to fry, so to speak, than the Pledge of Allegiance.

And I'm a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, but I'd never vote for this platform. It's tripe. Apart from having three redundant platform points (2, 4, and 5 should all properly be sub points of 1), all these points, beyond number 4 (and I've already discussed the merits of 4) are extraordinarily vague. In order to have any semblance of viability as a platform, you should actually address issues instead of throwing out random points.

Fighting government surveillance, yes, but what types of government surveillance do you intend to fight? How would you effect the disassembly of said surveillance, and what would you implement in its stead to keep us safe without sacrificing our liberties? These are just primary considerations that you've failed to address. A political platform is not just an aggregation of things that sound nice. You should provide in-depth explanations for each point and, most importantly, your alternative or solution. Otherwise, all you have is a list of complaints, and I'd never vote for a list of complaints.

Yes, it was called West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette. And that goal would fit under #1 as well, would it not?

That is the most screwed up platform ever... civil liberties but a dictatorship like control over children... But minus the pledge thing we already have all of these things in one party... it's called the liberals.

Um...good luck. We are living in a 2 party system...

Your suggestion sounds pretty liberal...the party you want to form probably already exists in some form. If I were you I'd do a bit of research and then expend my efforts in supporting it, instead of creating a new one...
