You should really check into it through an online search. There are probably tons of things in your community people haven't even heard of that might have something online. And that would especially help if you are looking for specific kind of work.

their's lotsa stuff u could do. pick up litter, donate to homeless shelters. at our church we also did this thing where these people find 150 needy children in the city each year and we get to pick a child and get a gift for them. the gifts are sorted by family. each family has a number and when all gifts are gathered and sorted, we helo deliver them

Volunteer at the local nursing home and animal shelter. Help with local food/toy drives that take place during the holidays. Just look around at the things that are happening your community and go from there.
