Light takes 8 minutes to get from the sun to Earth.
Knowing that, we know light takes a while to reach our planet.
The closest stars out of our solar system is 4 light years away. So, when we look at that star in the sky, we see the star as it was 4 years ago. Amazing, right?
So, theoretically, we can go back in time to the beginning of the universe. The 6 Billion Dollar Project documentary on either the Science Channel, or the Discovory channel shows how they took pictures of the universe so far away, the pictures show our universe looking different than it actually is, meaning, we're seeing what the universe USED to look like.
Time traveling, you do it in your own backyard watching the skies eh?

Nice :-) Space makes my head hurt if I start trying to really think about it.
"I know of no safe repository of the ultimate power of society but the people. And if we think them not enlightened enough, the remedy is not to take power from them, but to inform them by education." Thomas Jefferson
