Sean Penn is a modern-day Jane Fonda. He's an actor who has met with America's mortal enemies during time of war to proclaim support for them. I didn't support the 2003 war in Iraq, but having this liberal communist-lover go to our enemies when our men and women are on the front lines and then to show steadfast support for our enemies is beyond treasonous. I refuse to watch and pay to see any Sean Penn or Jane Fonda movie. These people are sick.

lmao, Fonda didn't support N Vietnam, she went there to show America how shitty we were to them. I think this topic is funny and ridiculous. Oh no, they talked to people we don't like! They're terrorists! Wow, maybe we should talk to the people we don't like that way we can resolve issues in a modern way instead of running around like retards with guns. Seriously, does anyone else ever notice that right-wing ideologies are consistent with that of a two year old?

How is Venezuela "hostile enemy" territory? There is nothing wrong with what Sean Penn did. Hugo Chavez might not be the worlds best leader but he is no where close to the image the US gov gives him, and i have a feeling Penn knows this and is trying to show it to other Americans. Why do u believe Hugo Chavez is so "bad"? Besides if you really want to blame somebody for supporting the wrong side blame the US government. During the revolution in Cuba, the US publically and "officially" supported the established government at the time, but armed the rebels under the table. Much worse than taking pictures with Vietnamese soldeirs.

Well if they were supporting or helping the enemy in a time of war, then I understand. But I only say it is treason if they helped the enemy (financially or otherwise) to fight American soldiers. I don't know much about the subject so...I'm really just taking shots in the dark. What is the definition of treason? and How 'exactly' did they show their support for the enemy?

No, you don't understand. Sean Penn went into hostile enemy territory to proclaim all of his diatribes. He went to Hugo Chavez and proclaimed that, "eh, nothing's going on here." Much like during Vietnam when Jane Fonda sat with North Vietmanese soldiers and posed for photos and the state-run TV cameras, Sean Penn is the Jane Fonda of our day. It's one thing to criticize our government on our own shores, but to go into enemy territory -- not even in the areas where our soldiers were camped, but IN THE HOT SPOTS of our enemies, in their palaces, etc., and proclaim what they did ...is beyond reproach.

Maybe he could have held his opinions back a bit, but this IS America. You are allowed to love, hate, and/or tolerate the policies, decisions, and 'wars' the governing peoples decide to start or join. I can't fault him for openly disrespecting the American government, in fact I applaud him for that, the only thing I have a problem with is his blatant disrespect for the soldiers who are, for better or worse, fighting in Iraq right now. But again, he cannot be punished for something like that, it was wrong that people spit on the Vietnam veterans upon their return, but not treasonous.

That's not true. I'm sure there are those who agree with me, but yet do not have a voice or the motivation to speak out. I speak for those who need an advocate
