My boyfriend is in the Marines.

I do not really agree with the war going on, however, I respect the fact that people are taking action against terrorists and what-not.

But I just wanna thank all of them.
All the men and women who have decided to put their lives on the line to keep us safe.
So that we can go to sleep at night and not have to worry about being bombed.
So that we can go to work everyday and not have to worry about having some phsyco come in and kill everyone and then have no dissiplinary actions.

Every time I go to the airport I eventually see one of the armed forces. A guy sitting typing away at his laptop in camo with his hair shaved off and his muscles buldging.

And I really wanna just go up and give him a big hug and say thank you.
But I'm scared to.
I dunno why.

I mean, wouldn't it be kinda awkward to have someone go up and give you a big hug?
But then again I'm sure he'd appreciate it, I mean, I would if I was a trooper and leaving my country to go protect alot of assholes who don't need to be protected.

I dunno.
Bbut I just am so scared of them having a bad reaction.
Hell, what if they like, think I'm going to attack them and like, tackle me or something?

Haha.

I duno.

A couple years ago there was a ton of tanks and army trucks driving down the freeway.
And Ii just watched them all.
Tthere were guys siting in the back and staring out holding their guns close to their chests.

And I started to cry.
Not because they scared me.
But because no one did anything.
Because no one honked.
No one waved.
No one did anything but continue on their way.
And then I felt for them.

What's it like to leave your family and have to worry about never coming back?
How can they be so brave?

They probably had new born babies.
Aa lot of them probably missed the birth of their children.
And their kids first words.
And the first time they decided to walk.
And the first time they did something amazingly funny without trying to.
They're probably missed their kids' birthdays. And their lovers birthdays. And their own.

Because they're too busy trying to save our sorry asses.
And alot of us don't even deserve that kind of protection, that kind of respect.
But they still do it.

And it just amazes me how thoughtful they are.
They are trying to protect us, so whether you're against the war or not, you should ALWAYS support our troops.

Gah.

It's a good thing that the soldiers care, but they are fighting a bogus war. I have nothing against the troops, i have something against the war.

Trust me, none of them mind. I've gone up to soldiers in every airport from La Guardia to LAX said thank you and walked off or stayed and had a conversation. But with anti-war sentiment so strong in our country it can translate as "anti-soldier" to our guys in uniform, or they're looked down upon as murderers and the bringers of the war people are protesting and to a 20 year old kid who signed up because he loves his country and wants to defend it, being called "murderer" or "monster" is more then a bit of a shock

"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done"."
