Tongue or lip piercings considerably raise your chance of a heart valve infection, which can lead to things as mild as antiobiotics, or as serious as surgery and even death. The mouth is a dirty place, very dirty, and those bacteria using your new piercing as a way into the bloodstream can be dangerous. It is probably unlikely, but check into your family history. Any heart problems, especially valve problems and I'd be weary. But whatever probably nothing will happen to you.

This is a really good site for info on piercings and whatnot, you can read about others experiences with this type of piercing, be sure to read the positive and the negative to get the full perspective. I suggest you do as much research as possible on the piercing as well as the person who will be performing it.Personally, I think 13 is too young to get this done, but if you're going to do it just be safe and do your research!

I have my tounge pierced, and have a for a couple of months now. Celtic is certainly right its very uncomfortable, for about a week week in a half anyways. As long as you treat it the way your sopposed to after that it isn't to bad, lots of mouthwash, advil, and soft soft food for a couple of days. When you can talk normal again, you'll have alot to say lol. Wink

I'm alive, and fully able to move. But I removed it I think about 3 days later as it is incredibly uncomfortable, and I like the ability to talk like a pedant.

one of my friends talked to her friend who got his tongue pierced and he said that on one side there are blood vessels and if they hit it you'll die and on the other side there are
nerves,it can cause serious nerve damage(I knew that)or that it can cause you to die so I don't know what to do I want it pierced but I don't want to die.I trust my friend and I know she wouldn't lie to me but can I have 2'nd opinions?

No, you're not supposed to be eating baby food or anything. Just not something like a huge amount of steak.

I got mine pierced a while back. I drank a milkshake that night and the next day I was starving, so I went to Fat Mo's and got a huge hamburger. I swear that was the best hamburger ever. lol Wink

You'll only get all of the above if you go somewhere that they don't know what they're doing. You're not going to get cracked teeth either. You only wear the metal stud until it heals and then you can get the acrylic balls. If you do indeed decide you don't want a tongue ring anymore... you're tongue/mouth heals faster than any other body part.

Tongue piercings are disgusting!!! Do you realize that you're putting a PERMANENT hole in your tongue?!?

You can let the hole close up. My friend did that. I have my tongue pierced and it rocks.

I got mine when I was 13.

Also you have to be 18.

does anybody have any idea how to get my mom to let me get it pierced

I asked her when I was 10 and she thought I'd gorw out of it so she said I could get it pierced when I was 13. Then I turned 13 and reminded her. Unfortunately, I have no advice.

Hey you don't have to be 18 to get your tongue pierced all you need is a signature from a parent or guardian.I think tongue rings are awesome.I don't think they are nasty but you will have more responsibilities than you ever did.

I'm also 13 and I want a tongue rings to,but I know of the responsibility that goes with it.If you are willing to deal with it then go ahead.I know plenty of people who have their tongue pierced and it isn't really that bad.
