Hey there. Im a film student and currently writing a screenplay for a movie which belongs to the fantasy/comedy/family genre. The story revolves a junior high school girl who constantly lies bout her parents to keep the truth of her weird parents away frm her friends and constantly wishes that her parents was different.
I'm currently doing research about the weird eccentric traits of her parents and I would appreciate it loads if anyone here could contribute to my research. Any weird traits of parental figures that any of you come across? Could be your own parents or a friend's parents? Thanks for your time
Just a note that this is completely true/legal/legit etc and im not doing this just to dwell in my pervese psyche or anything. Thanks alot for your time!
My mom will ask me about things happening in my life, and when I start telling her she interrupts me to tell me about the house, gardening, and the car. Then she yells at me because she says that I dont ever tell whats happening with me. Then she also relates things back to like Harry Potter or a cartoon. Like we'll be about to eat breakfast and she'll say "I like cereal" immitating some character in a cartoon.
this is really helpful guys. Apology, thanks very much! Your info has helped alot, i mean like tremendously and some of them are like being taken into serious consideration! cheers ! and thanks so much to the rest too! cheers ppl!
My mom needs me to check if something is there like let's just say she take her cedit card out for something then when she puts it back in her purse, she looks at it for a while then ask if I see it too.
She talks to herself.
She doesn't like sitting the opposite way of where the train is heading.
She repeats thing over and over
She ask questions over and over
She starts crying and panicking in the smallest streeful events. Like if she doesn't know where I am for a about 5 minutes, she starts crying and panicking. hen she can't barely breathe.
She doesn't liketo threw things away. She has a lotof things that she doesn'teven use.
She needs to check things a few times to be sure of it. Like check the water is off and stuff.
When she closesthe car window, she keeps closing it and does that a few times.
My mom likes to rearrange all the furniture in the house periodically, just for fun I guess. She has a bunch of little dogs which run around the house and bark a lot, and she's a workaholic. Dad loves to look at cars and can identify almost any year and model on sight. At least it seems that way. Hope this helps!
Well where to start?? my mom is always wearing these shirts that have funny sayings on them like "i'd like to help you out which way did you come in"or"you can eaither agree with me or be wrong" and she always wears shorts that don't really match..she complains alot but does do anything about it just sends us to do it..these i just find a little weird..My dad usally just hangs out in his room with the door closed and comes out periodcly...i wonder what he does in there....thats the only weird thing bout my dad i hope this helps
Well, my dad is always being annoying. He does this thing called "the claw" where he takes him hand and graps my knee and wont let go.. its so annoying. When i was little he used to call it "the panda grip". SOOO annoying. And my mom is always trying to dress cool. She bought the newest dress suit style (i hope you know what im talking about =S) and it looks so bad!
Just a suggestion, you dont have to follow up with it. But maybe you should make it so the parents dress really bad. Like, the dad wears dress pants above his belly button with his shirt tucked in and the mom tries to dress like a sixteen year old. know what i mean?
My parents are the most conservative Christians that I know. If it is not strictly allowed according to the Bible, they assume it is of Satan, and will not allow it.
This includes everything from music and movies to clothes and food.
That is weird enough for me.
I like these calm little moments before the storm.
My mom is really messed up. She has sleep issues, so she stays up really late and then flips out if anyone walks around the house in the middle of the night because it wakes her up. She never figured out how to save money, and so eats out 6 or 7 nights a week, sometimes twice a day. She reads a book or a newspaper at every meal. She is physically incapable of accepting that she could be wrong about anything. If you disagree with her, she will sit you down for a "talk" and argue with you about it until you agree with her out of sheer exaustion. Everyone that knows her is scared of this.
My dad is normal for a hippie, he's an ex pothead who owns his own little engineering business. He eats a peanut butter sandwitch every day for lunch, and has for as long as I can remember. That's about the only weird thing about him.
My stepdad is really quiet and stutters when he talks. He is a typical country bumpkin, never went to college, and got fired from his first job about at year ago when the factory downsized (he's 45). Now he works as a janitor at a country club.
My stepmom is this loud Israeli woman who doesnt care what she looks like at all, argues with her kids teachers until they do exactly what she tells them to, and parks in the "reserved" parking spaces. She gets insulted if you want to eat out instead of eating her cooking.
Diane (my gaurdian) is like that too, GL. Except she still wears hippie style clothing and she's 50. You know, weird patterned clothing, bright colors, flowing skirts, etc. She also cooks really weird food. Sometimes she just makes stuff up other times she's cooking lamb or duck or something eqaully as whacky.

I mean she used to have cool flowy skirts and stuff, but she gained weight and now she where's stuff that's "normal." A little bit to the left of "office clothes," though. But she's forty, mind, so she wasn't a "true hippie" and she didn't do drugs. That's what people always assume when you say hippie. Just clarifying.

My mom likes to buy Dior ect. clothes from the Good Will. Oh, she also like to try out recipies on us like lab rats. My dad can be extremely moody, and loves to complain. However hates to hear others complain. Hmmmm...
I am not saying any of these things are bad, but are quirky. Hope I helped.
thanks alot greenleaf! appreciate it loads. On the contrary, you helped alot with the info bout how your mum used to dress like a hippie etc. What do you mean by boring clothes? Do you mean office clothes when you say boring? Thanks for your help!
Hmm. . . My father has a lot of mood swings and listens to extremly loud music while singing (if you can call it singing) at the top of his voice. My mum used to dress like a hippie, now she wears boring clothes. My father still owns a pair of plaid pants from the eighties and he wears plaid shorts. My parents kiss me goodbye before I get out of the car at school. My kitchen looks like a rewind to the seventies, nineties, and a contemporary town combined. My mum likes to put Christmas lights up around the house. And I know someone who's parents have small psychological problems.
This probably wasn't what you were looking for, but I tried. Mind you, most of these things don't bug me. They're just. . . Interesting.
