Parents can be frustrating. I'm respectful of my parents, to an extent. I do not allow them to make decisions for me, unless the situation is out of my hands.

And rugar, there's a different between protection and smothering. Your parents can be protective of you, but they should trust you enough to be almost completely independent.

A lo hecho, pecho.

You know maybe this is why your mom is protective of you. It's cause of how you are acting right now.

Respect your mom. She's just trying to help, she probably doesn't realize that she is being over protective of you.
Maybe you should try talking to in a nice way.

I'm 19 and my parents still control me.
My Dad said that he was going to worry about me until I was married. I mean I can't go hardly anywhere own my own.
But I realize that they are just trying to protect me, so that I want mess up my life and do stupid stuff like they have.

Aye aye aye. Parents in general are overprotective. That is all that I have to say.

dont call ur mom that, she just cares about u. Its funny, we think we're misunderstood, but check out how we treat our parents...

just chill yo, it doesnt even matter because the fact is: you ARE an adult, and the treatment, bad as it is, does not change that sweet fact

Okay, fine!!! Tell me what you think of me.... now ask me if I care...

Now that she knows about your rape, your mom must worry about you all the time. She probably feels kind of guilty, too, like "what could I have done to prevent it?" "What if I had..." So she must think that if you're always safe with her, nothing bad can happen to you again. Talk to her. Let her know when you're having a hard time and when you do need her, and when you're doing okay and you need your space. If you let her know what's going on in your life, even how your day was, she won't always try to take control of things, because she knows you have it under control. And be honest when you don't. And keep telling yourself that you will not be in your parents' house forever. It sucks being in between, kind of an adult, kind of still a kid.

Rape is very traumatic for some people and it can be tramutic for familys as well you have had the time to work this over and obviously decided not to let it affect you but when you told your folks they were fed new information you had been hiding for two years and with this type of news it can freak parents out the only thing you can do is talk to them about it. (or go to college as quickly as possible)
