Now, there's few issues I'm more passionate about than the rights of students. My principal, on the other hand, is very against our rights. It is very frustrating. SOme of the various offenses have been: Censoring an entire article in the student newspaper because it had an opinion critical of her administration; Blowing off uniform money for Track & Field to buy a golfcart for her to get around campus; making a student quit all of her clubs just because she wanted to quit 1 of her 3 AP classes because she had no free time; and the list just goes on. She also is very cold towards the student population; a lot of the teachers don't like her either. One teacher thinks she's just at my school because she wants to get into the District Office. She acknowledges none of our most important rights, such as freedom of the press, speech, and expression, even when Supreme Court cases have proven our rights. It just gets very frustrating. I even talked to a member of the ACLU (This was before I joined) and she said that students have fought and won against repressive regimes. What are some of your views & ideas?

Before I say anything, welcome to YouthNoise, JohnSDS. I hope you enjoy posting on this site. Your arguement is freaky, to say the least. If she does things like that, you really need to go to the school board and present a case. Your safety and protection of rights are more important than a golf cart. Remember, argue your case vigorously and fairly. Give facts. You stand up to her and she'll she what the student populace can do. Now about the ACLU, do yourself a favor and distance yourself from them. I don't know what the member said to you, but do not take it at face value. They are nothing but trouble and I can say that from personal experince.
