I would love to know what the big deal about us girls piercing our belly buttons and about guys piercing their ears is to some parents. (Did I express myself right?) I would just like to know why this is such a big deal to some parents. I mean...some of my girlfriends pierced their belly buttons when they were 13 or something, I'm 15 and when I told my parents I wanted to pierce mine this is what they said "when u have turned 18, moved out of our house, and don't depend on us for even a dollar then u can". I was like...what is the big deal? And not even that but I can't even get a second hole in my ear. This is ridiculous (did I spell it right?) to me! It angers me so bad everytime they tell me I can't do something like this. Even more when I can take it off anytime and it will heal. Can somebody pls tell me if I'm the only one who is frustrated by this?

Congrats to you, girl - i hope you're enjoying your new piercings. Anyway, I'm not getting any at all because i think there's enough holes in my body already.

Meh, one of my 19 year old friends had her upper and lower lip peirced, she had to hide it from her mom... put in spacers. I thought it was kinda funny. Peircings are no big deal i say, they can grow back with just a little scar. Tattoos I say wait a couple of years. The thing about the belly though... I might wait a bit on that one. At fifteen you've probably not yet hit what I call "the great horizontal shift" where your body stops growing vertically and you get curves and maybe a bit of chub. It happens to everyone - ****in hormones- but to some more than others. Point is I'd wait to see if you even want your belly button peirced once your body changes. Now I'm not cursing you with obesity here But you know, might as well enjoy it for a while.

Not really unless you get THAT close to my ears. The ones in which I do have more noticeable maks are the ones I fidgeted with quite a lot.

I got a lot of piercings. Realizing I looked like a freak, I took them all off some time after getting them. I don't understand at the moment why the piercing thing was of interest me for a while. I only have my cartilage piercing left at the moment, and it's allright because I don't look like an bleached African tribeswoman anymore.

Ok....first off, thanks to all of u that have replied to my post or whatever. I really appreciate your opinions. Here's the deal...my dad came from back home this Wednesday night (bcz he still works over there in P.R. he comes once every month) and left today Monday. On Saturday for some reason I asked my dad again if I could get another piercing in my ear and he said no, now I kept insisting for like 2 hours. A lot of things were said in those two hours...one was that...I asked my dad if it was up to him, if I could wear eyeliner and lipgloss (its about the only make-up I ever wear, besides eye shadow sometimes. I don't wear foundation or all that other stuff)....he said no. I asked why and he said bcz I'm too young to wear make-up...I almost flipped! I'm 15! I may not be an adult yet but I'm not 5 either. Another thing was that if it was still up to him, I would not have the "normal" piercings in a girl. I think its just taking it to the next level. But anyways, I talked to my aunt (she's like my partner in crime in some situations) and she talked to my mom. My mom actually thinks my dad is going over to the ridiculous side, so...she told my aunt she would take me to get another piersing after my dad was gone. So...I'm not supposed to kno, my mom doesn't kno I know and...I'm just gonna wait until it happens. I'll you all posted. And about the toe ring...I still don't care I just wear it when my dad isn't here. Take care and thanks for posting!

OMG thats a different story I can't believe you can't even wear a toe ring!If you want you belly button done then your going to have to get it behind their back(they have the clear kind of rings which are retaniers) or wait till your 18 , I'm sorry I don't know what else to tell you. your not living if you don't take chances.

I think there is an age to do all of this. 13 is too young for a bellybutton ring and i think boys around 14 could pierce theri ears. Young girls and belly button rings make them look too s-l-u-t-y

Thanks for all of your opinions so far. But anyways, I don't want to pierce my tongue bcz it looks like it would hurt too much plus food can get stuck there...but umm...I was reading some of the posts and I don't know if I told u this but...I'm not allowed to even wear a toe ring! I finally convinced my mom but I'm not allowed to wear it when my dad comes from back home. Then my cousin got her um...a part of the ear that right now I don't know what its called but...u can hardly notice it. When I asked my mom if I could she said no bcz it isn't "traditional". I got so mad!

I'm 13 and I have my belly button pierced.I really don't know what to tell you,but I had to show my parents that I was mature enough to handle getting it done. After I did that my mom even paid for it.Different parents have different views on it.When I got mine done it didn't even hurt,so I dont know what they are worried about.

If you want to convince your parents to let you get a tattoo or piercing, just take them to where I work. I work at a pool and some of these people could get a job at Hot Topic. There is a guy with metal spikes through his shoulders, a few girls with tattoos all over and some very interesting piercings. It could possibly work, unfortunately most of those people quit this year. Compared to some of my coworkers, your parents would've saw you as saints or whatever. It kinda convinced my mom into another piercing, also comparing myself to my cousin who is literally covered with tattoos. Give me 2 years and I'll look like some of my coworkers.
Hope for the best and expect the worst............take whatever life throws at you...
