All our parents ask if us is that we do good in all we do. I think there comes a time where we must draw a line between what they want for us and what we want for ourselves. What we envision for ourselves is more important. Personally, my parents never got beyond a high school diploma. So, of course, I want to do better than that. I find that we all want to do better than our parents did. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's because doing better then them equals a better job, life, etc.
I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

who cares what they expect? What do you expect from yourself??? There, then that's all that matters.... But while we're under their rooves, parents, i think, just expect us to do well - regardles of everything else, they just expect you to somehow miraculously be the best and work our hardest. But then, is that soo much to ask?
Okay, fine!!! Tell me what you think of me.... now ask me if I care...

*shrugs* yeah, but she really doesn't care, my mom just expects me to graduate high school and do well in college, since she only has a high school education. My dad has outrageous expectations, but I don't pay have contact with him anymore.
Hope for the best and expect the worst............take whatever life throws at you...

My fam has WAY to high of expectations of me. None of them has ever gotten past college, and I'm the smart one of me and my bro so I'm exoected to get into a good profession. And then they wonder why I have nervous breakdowns.

no one in my family has less than a master's degree. so i'm expected to get at least that; i'm thinking law school.
i'd like to be able to relax more, to not have to work so hard in school, to be able to do what i want more than all that. they expect a lot, but I think bc they expect a lot now, and they're not letting me slack off, i'm much better set up for whatever i may want to do later, rather than later realizing that I want to go to some school and then realizing I dont have the grades.
