I believe that some teachers know the information that they are trying to teach, but the don't know how to teach. They are smart and know the information, but they don't understand how to break the information so that students can learn the information and understand it all. Some people aren't called to teach and some are.

*grins* Too bad I don't have any friends in class. Except the boy who sits right next to me, but that would be kind of pointless. quote: just a question y is that whatever teachers say has to be right no matter how wrong or irrational it sounds??
I haven't had any teachers like that actually. I've heard of them, but only in books and stuff. Most of the time if you bring in evidence of your point then they will agree with you. Although publicly embarrasing them would not be a good way to get on good terms with them...

It doesn't. They don't know everything. If you disagree, argue them and/or prove them wrong.

I've had a bunch of sucky teachers... Worst so far is my current, advanced algebra one (grade 9) math teacher, Mrs. Young. She had brain surgery, is depressed, and glares at us all the time. Ask a question, she explains everything exactly the same way, over and over. One kid's been put in in=shool-suspension every day for asking too many questions. She rarely explains stuff, just assgns us stuff from the textbook to figure out. Eighth grade. My english teacher, Mrs. Nikolajchuk. She came from Nicoragua and had been a U.S. citizen for four years. She said everything wrong, corrected our pronunciation, and couldn't spell Horse. Worst English teacher I've ever had. My history teacher gave us worksheets, a test every other week, you could retake the test- no changes- until you got a B or lower. Gave us worksheets for the week Monday, a presidential crossword puzzle on each president in order, word finds, that type of stuff. I learned more from the library than the class, but she was a nice teacher, who you could tell was trying, even if she wasn't good. Ms. R had her boyfriend in class sometimes, or we watched them have a makeout time just before it. She was obsessed with every kid having every concept %100 down, and stayed with it until they did. I learned 4 things that year. Seventh grade- Mr. W. he taught us nothing. We watched movies in his social studies class about everything from African Drumming to Wild Horses of America. We played on his drum set, some kids swore in front of him, and he rarely tried to conrol the class. It was a big waste of time. Sixth grade- another History/Social Studies teacher. She would talk- for days- about the same thing in a dreary monotone. She often reminsced about her childhood for the whole period. I learned next to nothing about the subject that year. The subs take care of the classes randomly, only 1 can keep the class from ignoring them and she tells stories of her childhood all period. Wow. That's a lot of bad teachers...
Life is like a box of crayons. Some are fat, some thin, some are short, some tall, some don't have much wrapping, some have funny names, and all are different colors... but they fit very nicely into the same box- unknown.

Yeah, I usually try to respect them, but if they disrespect a person, or hinder their learning, you can't really blame students for their actions as much as you could otherwise.

Well I can understand that, I mean, I do have one or two terrible teachers at school. What I was saying, however, was that they deserve more than kids picking on them all day, in return for their benevolent intentions for their students.

Haha! ^_^ I would try that, but class participation is a major part of my grade- although considering she doesn't want me to participate anyway, I don't know how she's going to grade that. quote: Let tell you, they're NOT doing it for the money!
Teachers aren't paid very much- but some of the teachers are so bad I don't know why else they would do it except for the money.

Can you honestly say that about ALL teachers?

Teachers deserve more respect than that. They do want to educate kids, whether you believe it or not, and increase their kids' chances when they go out into the "real world". Let tell you, they're NOT doing it for the money!

To be honest I have had tons of tachers that made me think. Every teacher I had and will have will make me think. they could be the worst teacher in the world but there will always be one thing that they would say that would make me think abuot something in depth. Maybe its just me, and by the way I'm not talking about thinking as in "when are they going to shut up?" or " 3 more minute s until the bell rings".Every teacher gets under my skin and makes me think about something one way or another. So in a way I guess it doesn't matter if any one of us had a teacher that made us think, its a matter of did we think anything at all. i know that wasn't exaclty the topic but what the heck, its my opinion and that is what this is for.
