Does how u dress affect someones overall appearance of u? Well my aunt told me that if I continue to dress like I dress (I don't dress scandulous but stick to todays styles for a pre-teen) that one day I going to end up marrying a no gooded man. But if I dress modest I will marry a good payin man that works. Is mah aunt styreotyping? I think so because a man should love u for u not the way u dress and I'm asking this becuz I dress NORMAL!!!!

I believe that is beyond the bounds of courtesy, you person with a ridiculous screen name.

Our school uniform is classic. But I wish we had pith helmets in summer...

People shouldn't be judged for physical things.
I tend to dress in just whatever is comfortable, clothes for any laid-back, fun occasion. Even for church often times.
I think I understand what your mom is tryin to say though: people are going to make judgements about us based on what they see, especially first-impressions. (Ya hear all about that for job interviews...)
So, I agree with what was said earlier: let the way you dress reflect who you are. Cuz hopefully, that is what you want people to see.

People think I'm kind of weird because of the way I dress, But I really don't care because I already know I'm weird. I'm mostly undone overalls, motorcycle boots, tank top, black hoodie, a ton of jewelry, and tights that match my shirt. And I love it.

Funny. I've never been misjudged. I've just been thought to be a girl...and when they get to know me, they find out I'm a linguistic-loving, philosophical-pondering, theatrical, musical bookworm Mormon, and then they judge me.

Giirl, I would call that some hardcore stereotyping. She has no idea what type of man you might attract wearing the outfits you do.
I personally hate seterotyping because there are stereotypes within stereotypes and its all just a big fat labelling game for people to play to make them either feel better or worse about themselves.
I myself have been labled a 'goth' and that does bother me because being labled a goth means that you just *have* to hate the world all the time and you *have* to listen to Cradle Of Flith 24/7 and you just *have* to have black hair and black nails but most of all you just *have* to be obsessed with death. Well, for me that is untrue, although at times I do not like the world it dosent mean I hate it ALL the time, I dont mind the band Cadle of Filth but listening to them all the time would give me a headache, and well frankly I am not obsessed with death, in all honesty I am scared of it.
Anyway, to make a long story the size of a peanut, I don't believe that lables and being stereotyped should be a modern thing because in the end, we are all individuals arent we?

Although people really should NOT judge you by how you dress, they kinda do. I used to dress in very revealing outfits and suddenly everyone was calling me a ****, even though I had never even made out with one boy at that period in my life. I also went through a goth stage and eveyone thought I was really creepy even though I'm one of the sweetest people. I dressed kind of hippie for a while, and everyone just asumed that I was like...into zen and growing sprouts and stuff. Then, if you dress in a lot of pink they will think you are ditzy. Even I have judged people...this kid who was new at our school dressed just like everyone else, so I put him on the list as being boring and unorginal, but when I actually started talking to this kid I realized he was one of the weirdest kids ever. I use clothing to express how I'm feeling. Not necessarily my personality...people just need to be more careful about judging each other.

What you wear gives a person his or her first impression of who you are and what you may be like. It's true that they should love you for who you are - if they don't, they're not worth your time. But if you're punked out in all black with one of those spiked dog collars, you're probably going to scare away a potential boyfriend or girlfriend who could be perfect for you. If you dress like a skank, you're probably going to be treated like a skank and possibly be taken advantage of. The problem there is that each person has a different opinion of dressing like a skank.

Bottom line, I think a person ought dress in a way that reflects who they are on the inside. The trick is doing it properly.

I don't get out much in the summer.

sweetheart, as far as guys go, if you dress skanky you will be treated as one, but if you dress with respect for yourself guys will respect you too. She is being a little stereotypical, but that happens. It sucks but in this world we can't really get around it.

For all those wondering, thongs and no underwear are both also not allowed. Big Grin How my parent's know whether or not we are, I don't know, but I won't break the rules, because there's no reason to.
