Personally, I think the whole "Authority" thing is crap. I mean, when you're five years old, duh, of course you need someone to take care of u. But when you reach a certain age, you're able to take care of yourself, and you don't need anyone to tell you what u can and can't do. Right now, at my age, I think that if I want get a tatoo, I should be able to. I'm not hurting anyone else by getting a tatoo or getting something pierced, so why does it matter so much to them. It's my body, my mind, and my spirit, and if I want to hurt it, that's my choice, not the "Authoritive" figure in my life.

You abuse language in interesting ways for someone who's getting pissy about spelling.

It's important to be mature enough to admit your still a kid. I'm 17 and I know I've got a long way to go... You're 13, fresh out of your preteens. You can still enjoy the perks of being a kid - don't waste your time bitching about the negative side of it. Besides, age is just a number and if you're this pissed off at your parents for not letting you get a tatoo, maybe your not ready to make a decision so permanent. No one I know even resembles the person they were at 13.

Like I said, maybe in differnt words, but I am juvenile, and I know it. What I hate about myself is that it's hard for me to take other peoples' advice

It seems as though you are being very juvenile rhiroxit. People don't always make the best discisions. You really should take advice from people.

You're right, maybe I am living in the 70s, maybe I was just born in the wrong time.

The point of parents is to teach us and help us and get us ready for the real-world because it sure as hell isn't as nice as it is when we're 5.

going back to the tatoo thing, you're parents are responsible for you, and in this case it means they're responsible for your physical being.

So then we can get hurt all we want after that? If you're going to do something stupid at 18, you might as well do it four years earlier and get it over with before life really matters.

Precisely, experience backs my view.

Besides, that doesn't apply in the case of a tattoo, which isn't hurting anyone. Well, not seriously or permanently, at least.

Again with the, "It's my choice" and if I want a tatoo, and then I change my mind, then that's my regret, and it shouldn't be anyone else's. And also when I got a tatoo, i picked a place that I can choose to either cover up or show. it hurt like hell, but still, that's my choice. No one else's.

With that philosophy you could say "why bother with parents, only the kid would get hurt by that" The point of parents is to keep us from getting hurt until we can decide for ourselves. Granted for some people, they will just be morons all their life, but for the rest it works well. Our parents stop us from doing things we will regret, untill we are responsible enough to do it for ourselves.

The age of accountability comes at different ages. Sometimes it's a little later than others. No fault to the parents. Sometimes, people are born evil, and there is no way to change it. Sometimes they are born fucked up in the first place. Before I was in high school, a junior came into school, shot and killed three people, wounded fourteen more, one of whom had to have a brain cast and had some serious mental problems after. Before he left home, he murdered his parents in cold blood. His parents were good parents, and led respectable lives. Sometimes, there's just nothing you can do for someone. He's serving life in prison with no chance of bail if anyone wondered.

Its true that kids need guidance, but if by 13 a kid doesn't know whats right and whats wrong the parents have offically fucked up and they're going to have a hell of a time trying to fix it.

Without supervision and rules you could go out and OD on drugs because your body's hormones were messed up.

You could. But not all unsupervised youngsters do drugs. And even among the ones who do, there are some who know how much to use.

As for the bit about the tattoo, I don't really understand the problem. As the original poster said, it's not hurting anyone else, so why does it matter? If they want to get a tattoo, let them. If they come to regret it later in life, that's their problem. Not anyone else's. Who are we to tell a person what they can and cannot do with their own body? Responsibility is something learned. And you learn it through stupid decisions. If you aren't allowed to make stupid decisions, you won't learn.

It's a bit harsh, but I don't really care.
