I just think it's creepy...not necessarily wrong.

Because so many people say that it's wrong because that's not the way nature intended it to be....but I really think nature intended us to be walking our whole lives too while now many people drive cars. I know it's like comparing apples to oranges but I'm just saying - there are tons of things that nature didn't intend that we deal with and even like...this one is just more extreme.

No, I don't think there would be gender confusion.

The way you would be able to choose the gender would probably be through IVF. The doc would go through the embryos and only implant the ones of the prefered gender. This could be found by simply looking at the chromosomes. The scariness (I have no idea how to spell that...) comes when we actually start splicing chromosomes to cut and paste alleles so to speak.

That's not completely true. While females get more masculine with certain steroids, maes do not get more feminine from any research I've seen. It is becuase the testosterone still over powers any estrogen.

I've studied steroids and what they do to you FoD when there is an excess of Testoserone in the blood stream the male body stops natural production and increases the production of estrogen (yes everyone has both) which is why male body builds who use roids get boobs. Now female body builders have the opposite occur breast tissue ceases deveolpment, they begin growing facial hair and so forth by upsetting the body's delicate chemical balance the sexes when on steroids slowy become the opposite sex (as far as they can with out surgery any way)

of course it is the chemical balance in males and females is very diffrent which is one of the major reasons roids fuck you up so much. I would keep going on the diffrence of male and female but I am very tired and cannot remeber my arguements

Depending on how it's done, I think we would end up with more transexuals because they were given the wrong gender. That is ofcourse if you believe gender is more than just physical appearances.

I like the idea of china dying out from lack of women, it'd free up more food for other countries though the world "shower flip-flop" and "poorly made random junk" industries would surley suffer a poor few years of production

I think it is wrong. While I would LOVE to choose the sexes of my future children, I don't think it is right. There is just something wrong with goofing around with genetics that really hits a nerve. Plus, if we are able to choose the gender of our child, next we will be able to control other traits. Soon every child born will be multilingual, play a billion instruments, be tall and thin and have high IQ's. While this seems like a good thing, we must remember that it is our diversity that makes us so special. Think about it, with such a high level society, who would do all of those jobs that no one else wants to do? We would have a society full of doctors and lawyers, but no McDonald's workers or garbage men.

Plus, in places like China where it is preferable to have a son versus a daughter (they can only have one child if they live in urban areas) they would all pay to choose sons. Then, how would those sons ever be able to have children? There would be no women for them to mate with. While it would help with the overpopulation in China, I don't think it would be found very desirable to the men who would never be able to have a family.

I think that it is wrong. I mean if a person was ment to choose the sex of their child, wouldn't they have been able to from the beginning. Also, in a way we are playing God if we do that. It puts us in a situation were we can give the life of who ever we want. But, what if you were ment to have a boy and instead you had a girl and realized thats not what you really wanted. It's one thing if the child was naturally born that way, but who do you explain to a child that "I think I choose the wrong sex"?
