Crypticardor, I agree with what you say. And I'm glad to see that there are some people who are able to escape the grasp of depression and suicidal thoughts. I know what that is like, for I have lived it. In the past I too use to think that perhaps there could be a happy ending if only you had enough faith, if only you held out a little longer. Unfortunately, this is not so, and it was painful to learn that life is simply not fair.

By the way, welcome to YN.

I agree with, and can attest to, everything you said in your argument. I grew up in an abusive household. Although I seem to have managed alright, there definitely are still wounds left behind that I am to this day attempting to heal. I am just lucky that I did not become a slave to the ways in which I had started to cope with my feelings, nor did I give in to suicidal thoughts. Unfortunately, not everyone is this fortunate. I agree with you also, in being somewhat appalled at the statement that everything has a happy ending, and even in the way this post was stated to begin with. There could have been a better way to bring about asking people if they've been through abuse...and just maybe there could have been some sort of motivation or reason to ask?

Not all stories have a happy ending, and not every abuse victim becomes a lifelong basket case.

Alright, I decided to go on a rant... even though I already commented, this has been bothering me all day, and I know you guys already know this, but I had to say it.

Child abuse, in any form is disgusting and extremely detrimental to the victim. To say that things have a happy ending is an extremely uniformed opinion. Victims have to live with the consequences of abuse long after the abuse has ended. Its not like after its stopped things are better, victims of abuse often live with feelings of guilt and regret. Many abuse victims end up suffering from depression or disorders, or develope unhealthy coping mechanisms. People who were abused as children deal with a lot, and to say things will get better is giving a false sense of hope, you have no way to gaurantee that what you say is true. It may get better, things may end up with a happy ending, but it isn't definate, so don't you dare say it is...

There's my rant...

While I appreciate the enthusiasm and the good wishes, your statement is a lie. Not all stories end with a happy ending. God, I don't even know if there is such a thing as a happy ending. Life is struggle and a lot of people don't ever get a break. It might sound harsh, but it's better than false hope.

You do know that is rude? But yes I was, and being hit by a parent is abuse, if it is done hard or often.

I'll reply. I have. I'm thankful for it. If I wasn't, I'd be jsut like every other freak at my school.

There. Woopee. Questions? I don't care. Honesty is a virtue I gladly exercise.

some people don't like to respond to things like this. if its so important to you try to find a children's home in your area and volunteer there.
