quote: What about that Christian woman a while ago who drowned her four kids because she thought God wanted her to? Maybe she drove them off a cliff. It was something strange like that.
Perhaps you are referring to Andrea Yates. I did some research and that story is the closest one that matches your claim. Andrea Yates was charged in 2002 for voluntarily drowning her four children. She pleaded insanity, and though she was not convicted on that charge, the jury had strong belief that she was suffering from a severe mental disorder. Yates claimed that God (or the devil, or some otherly-power) spoke to her and told her to drown the children. Yates Found GuiltyThere are extremists in every religon, but Yates was insane. Duh. Ditto. End of story.

When the president talks to god are the conversations brief or long? Does he ask to rape our women's rights and send more farm kids off to die? Does God suggest an oil hike when the president talks to god?

quote: Targeting their religion as wicked is the least productive thing we can do right now. It will only re-affirm their beliefs that we're the spawn of Satan. In addition, the Muslims are a people, so condemning them, as Joey and frosted have, is blatant racism.
I am not by any means targeting the Muslism faith. I have several friends who are Muslim, who, believe it or not, actually agree with some of the things I've said here...that their faith has just as many flaws as any other. I am one of the least racial people you will encounter (as only two of my closest friends are white, as I am), and I love my Muslim friends as much as anyone else. You have taken my statement way out of context, and I take your claim about my supposed racial beliefs in the highest possible offense. It's disgusting, because nothing could be farther from the truths that remain solid in both my mind and heart. If you knew me, you would know what I am saying is perfectly accurate. The main point I was trying to put across was that many individuals are paranoid about saying anything negative about the Muslim faith, while in fact it is a flawed faith just as others are (as I said before.) Please do not take my comments so horribly to the other end of the spectrum, because in the process, you miss the heart of what I am trying to put across.

The bible talks about stoning children that are disobedient to their parents... Doesn't sound peaceful to me...
1-We are all born originals - why is it so many of us die copies? 2- Life is tough... it's tougher if you're stupid.

How many times must I explain this? The Koran, much like the Judeo-Christian Old Testament and the Christian New Testament, is full of horrible, horrible things. If you take it literally, you end up with the crap frosted described. In America, we don't take the Bible terribly literally, and we instead tend to use Christianity as a source for peace, love, and bringing people together. The Islam religion could be used in exactly the same way, especially when you consider how many similarities there are between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. But why are so many Islamic people resorting to extremism? Well, my theory is it has something to do with the fact that they're living in a run-down, downtrodden country. Believe me, if the Islamic people were living it up in the richest nation in the world and the Christians were forced into poverty, it would be the Christians turning to the Bible and taking it word for word. It makes logical sense: the less you have, you more you wish for divine intervention, and the more you actually put faith into believing divine intervention is possible. And look at it this way: there are tons of sane, practicing Muslims within the United States who aren't hurting a soul. This is pretty direct evidence for my case. Targeting their religion as wicked is the least productive thing we can do right now. It will only re-affirm their beliefs that we're the spawn of Satan. In addition, the Muslims are a people, so condemning them, as Joey and frosted have, is blatant racism. I hate to break it to you two, but saying "damn Muslims" would really be no different than saying "damn Jews", "damn Catholics", "damn New Age f@gs", etc.
And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"

Uhhh...duh peace isn't spelled I-S-L-A-M. I thought that was pretty obvious, just like cool isn't spelled J-O-E-Y.

Well, Islam may be vioeltn, but at least it's not hypocritical like Christianity in saying they love and forgive people.

I completely agree. I just read this article with a picture of this Muslim woman and small daughter embracing, smiling. What was the article about? How the mother had brutally killed her older daughter in her sleep because she was raped and impregnated by her sons (the girl's brothers), and the younger daughter (I think she was nine) talked to the journalist, saying that she loved her mother even more now because she did it so "people wouldn't be mean to us." And remember, people, this woman is not the Muslim extremist you hear about on TV...just a 'normal' mother who feels that her faith called for "honor" killing her own daughter. All of you who are paranoid about saying anything negative about Muslim practicers need to think about that the next time you defend their religon (though I accept most Americans who are.)

I really dont like to hate people nor judge them but i really have to say that peoplein Iraq and all those Islam people or Jihad or whatever are crazy and stupid and they ar just pulling war on themselves. The reason why they are always in chaos is not because other countries have neglected them or not because other people from other countries dont aprreciate them. it is because in their own country, they hate each other and thats why they are always in chaos and cannot seem to understand and unite with each ther. Even their own people they kill them, women are slaves and i just dont know why people there are still alive with all the racket going on. I think that people from iraq or Islam people need to have peace first in their own country before they can have peace to other countries.

I have a really different take on this. I think the best way to end the violence and terrorism is to create a better understanding between the Middle-East and West. America needs to humble itself and stop trying to bully around other nations to become democratic, first of all. I'm not saying that democracy is bad, but I think in the kind of restrictive society the Iraqis have lived in, has made them ill-prepared for this kind of freedom (especially from a hated country that still occupies them). And these Islamic fundamentalists/extremists are horrible, but the lack of diplomacy is America's fault.
