I'm going to tell you, that after I become the superintendent of schools where I grew up... all students will wear a uniform. Not only that but it will be purchased at the parents expense.
But uniforms are a wonderful thing, they keep everything uniform, no kid ever has to worry about being in the cool crowd because of what they wear, only due to how they act. Lets put it this way, when you grow up, your going to wear a uniform of some sort at some point in time, might as well get used to it.
i go to a private school in minnesota and i have no problems with our uniforms. getting ready takes an hour less when you just wear the same thing, theres no choice. in our school is really does nothing to stop cliques, etc, but studies have shown it helps in academics, etc. i wouldn't mind ditching the things but i'm not going to advocate it.
i hope you never lose your sense of wonder/you get your fill to eat but always have that hunger
1. Restricts individuality and all that jazz. 2. No one uniform is going to look or feel good on all body types. 3. Some families may not be able to afford them. 4. Cliques will still form, with or without uniforms. 5. I just don't see the point in them.

Who really cares anymore? It's only during school hours, which is usually around six hours. You still have 3/4s of a day to wear what you want.
Try 9-10 hours. Anyway, uniforms would unite a school but i am who I am. I want to be an individual. I want to express who I am by my t-shirt. Also, I don't care if I am "advertising" for a company or team or whatever, I like it, so I am going to wear it. Uniforms should not be in public school, go to Private school for uniforms.

Even though this isn't where uniforms belong....I am totally for the wear of school uniforms because it makes the school look unified and it promotes school spirit. Also people can not get judged for what they are wearing because everyone will be wearing the same thing!
Yeah we know how to work and we know how to play we're from the country and we like it that way...
Somehow I feel it's not their place or their right.
Education is a priviledge, not a right. So yes, they do have the right to dictate what you wear, especially when you go to a private school.
Be grateful you can go to school for "free" at all. If wearing a uniform (OMG!!1! ANYTING BUT DAT!!11!1) is the price you pay for education, then you are definitely getting a good deal.
And like freedomordeath said, this is in the wrong place.

I hate to break it to you guys about 364 days later, but this isn't where "uniforms" belongs. It belongs in school/education. Learn the true definition of "exploitation".
My school wears uniforms because its Catholic. It is kindo of sad that we all get excited when we have a free dress day, and we have to pay sometimes to do it once a month. I dont like them, but i know that they are useful. i have seen what people do in public school compared to here, and no one really looks at what you are wearing. They look at you. I have been wearing these things almost my whole life, so i guess i dont have too much of a problem, and although i hate to admit it so much, but they do work. We saved so much on not buying clothes its not even funny.
It is essential that justice be done, and it is equally vital that justice not be confused with revenge, for the two are wholly different. OSCAR ARIA
I don't think schools have the right to dictate what I wear. Somehow I feel it's not their place or their right. I think their are more important things they should be worried about than what I wear. Like how many people in the school can't read?
But hey...that's just my opinion.

I think uniforms are a good thing. I think that it has nothing to do with defining yourself. Its just is... uniforms. Its a policy in school and i think its ok. Its not like you're going to die wearing one plus it also reduces the amount of time spent over choosing your clothes to wear to school. And also, it will be sort of an equality between those who have more clothes to wear than those people who dont have enough. I have been wearing school uniforms all my life and its really great.
I went to a private school for 8 years and i never had to wear uniforms exept for competitions with other schools in May. When i did have to wear the uniforms though they were just to complicated. You had to were a certain color. It had to be a certain style. You couldn't were sweatshirts with them. You had to take sweaters off to compete, but you still got docked throughout the day when the whole school didnt match to the last color of sweater or something like that. It really bugged me and i am personally happy that i dont have to wear uniforms. I am now a sophmore in a public highschool and there are only like three rules about dress so it is really nice. The rules are like nothing that looks like it belons in a gang, no ****ty wear, and nothing really political like, well I forget at the moment, but you can actually express you political opinion without getting kicked out of school for it or something. Oh yeah i remember now. It is religious stuff not political. You cant offend someone with what you wear like nothing about Hitler and stuff like that cause you might offend someone. That is about all though. I think that uniforms really suck. It might just be that i am at school that is really unusual. I always hear about things that other schools do and i am always like my school isnt like that. Well, i think that is about all i wanted to say. Sorry if i rambled too long or went off of subject.

How about a little self-confidence? Thats so petty. The ninth graders are not even that immature and believe me, they are pretty immature. I think students need to learn to be comfortable with themself. Why do you really care what people think of you?
And there are not going to be standards like that for the rest of your life. Out on the street do you expect people to point and stare at what you wear? How about at your job?
Why not just start making all clothing the same so no one can ever wear anything unique? </sarcasm>
I am now in 9th grade and from 5th grade until 8th grade I wore uniforms. It was okay but there were MANY times where I wanted to wear the clothes I wanted. There is nothing wrong with students wearing what they want to wear, as long as there are certain guidelines so no one shows too much and no one offends anyone else. In 7th and 8th grade, it got to me that I had to wear uniforms because I couldn't express myself the way I wanted to. I know there are LOTS of other ways to express yourself besides clothing but clothing is a MAJOR one.
