Well, if you believe in Christianity, there's no hope and there's the ultimate hope. As in the rapture ect. Society as we know it will go all to hell (most of it literally), but Christ will set up his kingdom here on earth. So there's no hope for the vast majority of people, but there is hope for morality ect. Although I'm sure you knew this already...just kind of thinking to myself. Christianity seems weird to me right now...this sounds crazy, where a few months ago it sounded normal. Bah. Jen.

How about focusing on some of the good things? There is always bad things happening in life and if you really look you can find alot of them. Why not put more effort into finding storys that make you say, "wow there really is still good in the world" ?

yam, I'm not saying God just gives up on people. I'm not saying there isn't hope for individuals, I was talking about society.
The world as a whole. There is no hope for it.
Sure, there might be a strategic few that still hold on to morals, principles and values, but the majority are bringing the place down ...
Of course, if a Nation's people repent, then God will Heal their nation, the Bible says.
God didn't give up on me, that's for sure, but others aren't fortunate enough to even KNOW God.
And that, yam, is why there is no hope with our society.

quote: At 10 years old, a boy repeatedly tells his younger girl classmates to, "suck my [expletive]."
At soccer practice, eighth grade girls repeatedly show up drunk or high.
There is no more hope for this country, plain and simple as that. It's useless to try to inject morality in every part of society; it's just no use.
I like to believe I'm more a realist than anything, and ick, from having to hear a friend tell me about the boy and the soccer girls, it just made my mind up right there.
Moral of the story: Don't have kids.
...
Okay, that might have been too extreme, but seriously, there is no hope for our younger generation. Ever.
joey i don't understand how you can say there is no hope especially if you are a christian. God can do amazing things. I know a lot of people who have done horrible things that seem beyond hope but God has changed them. Everyone is a sinner and we deserve to be given up on but God hasn't given up on us and we shouldn't give up on the people that need and are searching for Him. I agree that those stories are horrible and its really sad that people are like that, but God still loves those people and wants them to come to Him. I'm glad God didn't give up on me....i'm glad He didn't say "there's no hope".

I used to be on so many kinds of antidepressants and things that were supposed to compensate for the effects of the anti's, and pills that were supposed to fix the effects of those pills...it was horrible. But no more! I am pill free...but I'm getting depressed again. Bah. Jen.

Hope is a subjective thing, so there can be no obvious fact regarding it. Claiming that there is no hope is just whining because you're too lazy to do anything about it. Caliming there's no hope is mindless whining, unless you're happy that there is no hope. The ACLU has been fighting with the NAACP a lot recently over hate crimes laws and the rights of Nazis to free speech. You may not like the ACLU, but at least give them credit for defending everyone's right to free speech. And like the ACLU, I believe that even the most offensive speech should be tolerated for the sake of democracy. I've been offended by a lot of things you've said, but notice I've never once advocated censoring them. So don't make false claims about me not caring about free speech.

This reminds me of a quote from a movie. I can't remember the exact words but it was something like, "fake hope is better than no hope" I dissagree, but hey. By the way I have been crocheting since about the 3rd or 4th grade and I still suck. That was a question from a while back, but oh well.

quote: Maybe if you weren't just a weak crybaby conservative, you'd be able to find solutions to the world's problems.
So me stating the obvious fact that there is no hope with our younger generation is being a crybaby? Hmm. There is a solution to all the world's problems Socrates, that's what I've tried to tell people, but no, people like you would get "offended" and then sue me via the ACLU. quote: Well, u r a Jack***, ok, if u would get off your high horse for a second and think, there is a lot of good in this world too.
Now did I say there wasn't any good in this world? Did I? Did I say EVERY teenager being brought up in America is set to go down the tubes? No, so ease up a bit on your conclusions. I'm not on some holy-roller high horse either, but you're more than welcome to give me examples of how that is you arrived at that conclusion. quote: And u r not God, u can't say, "don't have kids" and everybody stops having sex.[/QUOTE
Not saying I'm God, never did, never will, but that statement about not having kids was sarcasm.
[QUOTE]Alright, yeah, this is not the best time in the world for the younger generation but who knows, it could get better, have hope.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda, but be realistic instead of living in Utopia Land; the world is getting worse with social, political and religious problems. I tend to be more of a cynic in this regard, but I'm not stupid. It was foretold that this stuff was going to happen, and it is. Proof positive that things won't get better with outside and demonic influences.
