yea colleges and scholarships always (at least the ones I've seen) ask on what scale. pluss if you have a 2.0 and are applying to a good college or have a 4.7 then it should raise a flag that you're on a different scale.

Worth, I'm pretty sure colleges look at the system and convert it to the standard 4.0 system. I once filled out a scholarship form online and it asked for my GPA. Then right below that, they asked what the scale was for the GPA.

Mine is like clpo's. However, there is no difference between AP, CP, Honors, and Standard classes. Class rank involves a weighed GPA, but I don't know how that is done.

See, to me, that's weird! I assumed ours was the same as everyone else's---my school usually comforms. So does that mean that if someone goes to a school like clpo's (where getting a 4.0 is much easier than getting one at my school---I would have one if we did GPAs like that), then that person might get accepted to a college over me simply because my school uses a different system? Or do colleges look at the systems?

Wow some places are weird. We do the same thing as Clpo, but that is for level 1 (honors classes) because our GPAs are weighted. APs are moved up a step: A+: 4.6 A: 4.3 A-: 4 B+: 3.7 B: 3.3 etc. Level 2 (non honors) are down a step. A+: 4.0 A: 3.7 A-: 3.3 B+: 3 B: 2.7 I have a 3.79 GPA. i still have to find out about my class rank though. That is weird. We go mainly by letter grades to determine GPA. As in: A (93-100) = 4.0 A- (90-92) = 3.7 B+ (87-89) = 3.3 B (83-86) = 3.0 B- (80-82) = 2.7 C+ (77-79) = 2.3 C (73-76) = 2.0 C- (70-72) = 1.7 D+ (65-69) = 1.3 D (60-64) = 1.0 F (<60) = 0.0 So by getting all A's, one can acheive a 4.0. I have about a 3.977 (or so) because I got a couple of A- and a B+. AP classes aren't weighted any differently, although some of the AP teachers grade like they would in college, where an A is 90-100, B is 80-89, etc.

Oh okay, yours is different...at my school, we use this nifty GPA conversion chart: GRADE POINT AVERAGES 100% = 4.00 90% = 3.25 80% = 2.00 99% = 3.98 89% = 3.13 79% = 1.88 98% = 3.96 88% = 3.00 78% = 1.75 97% =3.94 87% = 2.88 77% = 1.63 96% = 3.91 86% = 2.75 76% = 1.50 95% = 3.88 85% = 2.63 75% = 1.38 94% = 3.75 84% = 2.50 74% = 1.25 93 % = 3.63 83 % = 2.38 73 % = 1.13 92 % = 3.50 82 % = 2.25 70%-72 % = 1.00 91 % = 3.38 81 % = 2.13 <70 % = 0.00 So if you make a 93 in a class, you get a 3.63 averaged in. After one semester of four classes, all your grades are converted using this chart, added together, and divided by four to give you your GPA. So, unless you make all 100s, there is no way you get a 4.0. If it's an honors class (pre-ap for you) then a point is added on to that converted number. If it's an AP class, two points are added on. This gives you your weighted GPA. Which is what you're ranked by in my class (I have a 4.5 something right now...a 3.9 something unweighted). It's like this whether or not we take the AP exam (the weighted classes help your GPA a lot...in rank, I jumped from 34 to 9 to 4). And in our grading system, your geometry grade would not have been an A. A's are from 93-100, B's from 92-85, C's from 84-75, D's from 75-70 and E's (not F's, E's...go figure) are from 70 to below. We don't have the Junior one. And we're inducted into NHS in our junior year. Haven't checked out the site yet but I will.

To me, that's completely different. That's hard work and, even without being a cheerleader, I know it. I just don't like the football game cheerleaders who, well, suck. To me, that's not really a sport to do a few simple moves and yell words out to the audience. I'm guessing your 4.0 is weighted (no way you got a perfect 100 in every single class) and they have pre-AP classes? What's Odyssey of the mind? and...What's NJHS? (We have NHS---National Honor Society...did you just stick a Junior in there?).
We do the football games and basketball games too. Some of the cheers are easy, but some of them require a bit of cordination. My favorite thing is building. Which is hard and dangerous if you have no idea what you're supposed to do. Our school's grading system is weird. It's not weighted unless you take the ap exam. I didn't yet, so I have a 4.0, if I did I'd have a 5.0. I just made all A's (barely, with a 90.3 in geometry) and I got a 4.0. National Junior Honors Society. You don't have NHS until your sophmore year, I believe. Odyssey of the mind (OM) is the most awesome thing ever. It takes forever to explain in detail, like I would, so I'll just slip you the website. It's mucho great fun. I've done it for five years now. And pre-ap is just advanced stuff to "help you ready yourself for AP". It's like advanced english or advanced math or something. It's a bit harder and more challenging, and you learn more than you would in the regular class. but yeah.

I'm a cheerleader, I have a 4.0, am taking all pre-ap and ap classes, doing drama, band, Odyssey of the mind, quizbowl, and I'm in NJHS, girl scouts, and dance. I'm not dumb, and I'm not a *******. I just happen to like competitive cheerleading. I wouldn't stereotype anymore. And I believe you had a statement there, not a question. So why do you have so many question marks?

Can someone explain to me what exactly is a prep? Things that get on my nerves: stereotypes.

quote: Excuse me? Cheerleaders are not stupid, cheerleaders need to have a C to stay on the team. A C is avergage. So, thank you, we're not dumb. I'm a cheerleader and I have 3.17 GPA thank you. Also, no one is dumb. The people that get D's and F's don't try.
At my school they need a B average. Which is why all the idiots in my school who wanted to be cheerleaders can't. I don't hate all preps. Though most are stupid whores, there are some who are really nice and smart. I hate people who think they're goths but really aren't. Just because you wear black doesn't make you a goth seeing that the original definition of goth is: A member of a Germanic people who invaded the Roman Empire in the early centuries of the Christian era.

i dislike most preps, most people dont like preps because they make fun of them. I just dont like them because of how they act. I also dont like the card game players, the Gay strait alliance people, and the cutters. I mostly hang out with the druggies because ive known them all since 3rd grade.
