I was raped & I don't know what to do to help myself through this, & I was just wondering who's been raped & what you did about it? Thanks, SoccerChick13
I understand. My uncle was a rapist ( may he rot in hell forever ), through two families and on to a third now, I hear. I just wanted to clarify what I said, I think.
...a Wandering Star for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever...
This is what I say, YV. Sure, you were raped, but it's not the worst thing in life. I don't ignore them, or discredit them. I just treat them as every other problem, and if it's happened to me, sadly, I'd probably be more sympathetic. But it hasn't, so I'm not.
I wasn't trying to make you look bad or anything like that. I guess I feel strongly about this because I've know people who have been raped and I'm close to them.

That's why I listed them. Because everyone reacts differently.

I guess it just kind of annoyed me to see it compared to all of the other disasters of life. Each one is so unique and affects those who suffer from it so differently that trying to line them up is like comparing elephants and duct tape.
I have to agree with Fina and Faeri here. Yes, there are many things in life that can and are traumatizing. But you shouldn't discredit rape merely because there are other things that can be life altering. I don't know, I just think it's harsh to say to a victim "yes, you were raped, but hey there are worst things in life."

Rape is very often a precursor to the other shitty things in life: depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, etc. Just for that, I think it ranks pretty damn highly on the shit scale. But of course, I've never been raped, and I'm sure people react to it in very different ways.

But then, maybe that's sort of what Shade was trying to say in the first place.

And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"
I was responding to rape being one of the "biggest curses of life" I think. And also, I don't have pity for anyone. I'm a shade, not a troll, so don't take it personally.

But I really have no pity for rape victims. Sure, traumatizing. Also, hard if impossible to get over. But so is depression. So are suicide attempts...Shall I go on?

It seems ridiculous to me to dicredit the qualities of one thing just because it's not unique. You can't ignore victims of rape just because there exists victims of other tragedies, like suicide, etc.
Hey! Old threads like this one can be amusing, especially when revived by bauhaus for a one-liner.
