I live in a small town, and my situation is very similar to yours. There are no foster kids or homeless people or anything to help, for crying out loud! One thing you might want to look into is nursing homes. My Mom helps run one, and you'd be surprised at all the things you can help out with around there. Also, this is kind of strange, but I taught myself to crochet (or you can do knitting) for Project Linus. You can look it up online for more info...they give blankets and quilts and afghans and stuff to sick kids or kids in shelters all over the place. You can find stuff all over the internet about ways you can help people by making things and sending them to charity, or by managing websites for nonprofits and stuff like that. God bless, Jen.

You could get a group together to help clean up a park or playground You could ask friends, family, and neighbors if they have any extra Easter baskets laying around, collect them, and donate them to the food bank (if you have one near you) You could volunteer to help at summer sports programs You could collect "nearly new" stuffed animals. Many police departments, fire departments, and ambulance crews give them to kids that are involved in accidents, fires, or whatever

You could see if you could tutor kids in your area (or help with their homework) You could see if there are after-school programs or summer programs you could volunteer at (check schools and churches) You could see if your library needs help at story-time...or if they don't have a story time, help to start one You could organize a collection of toys, books, clothes or whatever for kids in shelters You could organize a collection of toys, books, etc for kids in hospitals You could also try re-posting your question on the "Activists" board for more ideas

i think we can help kids in simple ways...maybe you can visit foster homes and spend time with the kids there. they need to know that people care. they also need young people who they can look up to and i know they can look up to people like you. also, maybe if you want to raise funds, ask adults or teachers in your school to help raise funds. starting a campaign where other kids could contribute a little bit of their allowance to raise funds may be another way. also, try to motivate other people and get them involved. i hope i gave you some ideas...thanks and God bless!
