Child prostitution and child pornography seems to be growing more and more every day. It is so sad to see that so many of this children are being exploited and taken away there inoscence by perverts who don't respect anyone in order to satisfy there lowest desires. Facts about child prostitution


UNICEF estimates that every year 1-2 million children under 18 are exploited sexually in prostitution. In Asia alone, the number comes close to 1 million. The number of children who work in prostitution is largest in India (400-500,000) and in Thailand (200,000).



Sexual exploitation of children is often directly related to abuse in the families, poverty and economic exploitation. Most of the child prostitutes are between 13 and 18 years old - especially girls - from poor country districts or city slums in the developing countries.



A survey conducted by the College of Social Work in Mumbai (Bombay) in India shows that most of these girls:

come from poor families with many children
are illiterate
begin their work as child prostitutes at the age of 16
are lured into the proffession through false promises of a good job or marriage
serve between two and seven clients every day
cannot dispose freely over the money they earn
are indebted to the brothel-owner
have venereal diseases and are very likely soon to get AIDS
would like to leave prostitution but don't know how

Some argue that child pornography is not at epidemic proportions.

FACT: One online news source listed 4,000 news articles involving child pornography investigations, arrests and /or convictions for a 30-day period (April 2003).

Some claim the viewing and owning of child pornography is simply a free speech issue.

FACT: One or more children are sexually abused for each child pornographic picture viewed.

* Online child pornography/child sexual exploitation is the most significant cyber crime problem confronting the FBI that involves crimes against children. Throughout the FBI, there was a 1,997% increase in the number of Innocent Images cases opened between fiscal years 1996 and 2002

* 1 in 4 girls and at least 1 in 10 boys is sexually abused in some way by the age of 18. 10% of those children are preschoolers.

* 10,000,000 children are trafficked and prostituted in the world according to UNICEF.

* 1,000,000 new children are pushed into this market every year. (UNICEF)

* Child trafficking and child pornography generate over $19 billion in profits each year.

* 345% increase in child pornography sites between 2/2001-7/2001.

the facts and figures above are just disgraceful and almost unbelievable but the sad thing is they are all true and are only going to keep rising in numbers if something is not done about it soon.. in asia alone there are over one million child prostitues..does anyone else find this as shocking as i do?.. if this is known why isn't there more being done to target specific countries in order for this trade to stop because its a clear voilation of a childs human rights which are stated in the declaration of human rights of a child. there should be laws introduced in these countries where this is in fact high to ensure that it is stopped and even if the government may not want to enforce these laws they should be forced on the country by outside figures because this needs to be stopped.. no one let alone children should be subjected to these terrible conditions

Wow, thanks for those facts. Keep in mind, people, that those are only facts that are known.. imagine what we don't know. I consider myself pretty passionate about this issue. Haven't done as much research as I would've liked to, but I know some stuff...

I have found out just recently that here in Missouri, pictures are only considered child pornography if the child is engaged in a sexual act. No matter how young the child is, they can be naked and be in a pose, but it is still not child porn. It is sad that they can be exposed like that w/o any consequences for the one who had done it.

I read over and over all over the internet how bad child prostitution is in other countries...but does anyone realize how large it is in the US...go through your phone book and look for Strippers...most companies offer escorts which is a nice way of putting prostitute, and half of those working in that industry are underage. I know because I was a stripper at the age of sixteen and although I never prostituted myself I lived in a literal whorehouse which the business was run out of. It's as much of a problem here as it is in other countries.

its just wrong for ppl to do that and ppl will go so far as kidnapping kids to have sex with them and then leave them somewere to find there way home or maybe even kill them but if that happens to a kind emagine those kids growing up and when there adults they will be emotionaly scared for life i think its wrong and its also wrong for what they put on websites ppl dont even repot them but there there for the entire world to look at it should stop NOW!!

The only sad thing about sex paid for or not of any age is if force is involved. Viewing any sex should not be wrong as it should be protected by the constitution. Any willing posing of pictures or active participation by a person, child or not in a sexual way is a choice and should be allowed by law.

The reason it is becoming more in our face is that societies evolve and progress each becoming more advanced with time. We as a people are starting to shed ridiculous morals based on tradition and religion and using actual reason to form our culture and that is why laws limiting sex around the world are under close review.

I think that type of stuff is sick. I know that there are some out there who willingly do that, but I don't really understand why they would want to do that to themselves. I don't really agree with minors having sex. I was molested and raped repeatedly by my "best friend" at the time from when I was 14 until recently. And I am now 18. I just don't understand why anyone would willingly do that to themselves. (and I do feel rather bad for those forced into it, because I know in a way how that feels)

If you are WILLING to pose then fine, it should be legel (dont tell your age). If you are forced you should DO SOMETHING about it instead of doing nothing, go tell a adult or a close friend. Dont let it keep happening. Sexual poses fine; Having sex as an minor *TWITCH,TWITCH* should be ILLEGEL!! Willing or not, ILLEGEL!!!!!!!
