These people are awesome. They get paid dirt, have to deal with insults and bad people, work way too much, and love their jobs. These people are some of the best people I know. Its not because my mom's a social worker, its because they don't get the respect they deserve. These peolpe are awesome.

I think we should all realize that just because your job means you have potential to do great good that does not mean you are taking advantage of that fact, because that means power and that means it can be used negatively as well. Send a card to someone who has affected you, someone you know, or someone in the news in a way you approve of and if you don't know them well enough to know they are a damn good [insert job here] then just thank them for what they did in that particular situation because you at least know what they did then.

ok i know i'm weird but i seriously think we should all send an e-card to a social worker. so i found a website where you can do a search of a huge database of social workers and a lot of them have email addresses listed. just go to egreeting, americangreetings, or any other e-card site and find a nice thank you note. please? anyone interested?

i think we should all go to google and find a social worker online and email them one of those cute thank you e-greetings and just be like "hi. we don't know each other, but i just wanted to tell you that i really appreciate everything you do for society as a social worker."

aw come on, it'd be so sweet! Big Grin

agreed it is a job that is so hard and has such a bad salary that many people like mom, who have degrees in social work wont do it.

quote:

That's so cool! I have so much respect for social workers- among all of the many other professions that are too often overlooked.

I think Social Workers deserve more than they get. They work so hard and put all they have into other peoples lives and situations. I hate that the people actually doing something good for others are often the least-paid and treated the worst.

I agree. Social workers have such cruddy jobs and rarely get any acknowledgement for it.
