Alright..so..there's all this contreversy on whether the death penalty is a good decision, or a bad one. Personally, I beleive it is a good one. The death penalty is enforced when someone is convicted of murder. Honestly, I happen to think that someone who can commit murder, and take someone's entire life from them like that, should also have their life taken away from them. They should have to suffer for the crime that they CHOSE to commit. No matter what age. My cousin, was only five years old..FIVE..and his father shot him point blank in the face..RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES..and killed him. He DRAGGED him all around their old house, and attempted to bury him in a whole, with a truck toolbox as his coffin. Now tell me this. Do you think that the death sentence, for his father, was a WRONG DECISION? You think that his father, deserved to have a life, after he killed his own five year old son? I don't. I don't think anyone, that takes anyone's life away from them, deserves to live. Mad

I think that it has been justified as such since about as far as we have recorded history. The fact that America is made up nowadays of soft ***** protesters shouldnt all of a sudden make the justification invalid.
Of course all murders happen under different circumstances. That is why we have a little thing called a trial. A very small percentage of people tried for murder recieve the death penalty and most of them deserve it because they are cold blooded murderers that quite frankly I dont care to support in MY prisons.
I dont think that the death penalty will ever be completely abolished simply because it has been around for so long. I can see how the opponents to it would be frustrated by this but you should realize you are the minority on this issue and honestly there is no way I would ever change my mind on the subject.

If I murdered someone I would expect myself to be killed. If my mom, dad, or anyone I know murdered someone I would want them to die also.

Yes, thats true. If you harbor any grudges against blacks, Native Americans, or Aboriginals I suggest you try reading Guns, Germs, And Steel. Also, it won the '97 Pulitzer.

look i thought that most people had given up being racist you arent one of them. Mad who ever gave you the right to just say 'i bet the guy who raped and stabbed a girl 27 times was black.'

How do YOU know, just give up and leave them alone. They are no different to us, my best friend is black, and she's the nicest person. Her family is nice and black people have never done anything wrong. White and black are EQUAL.

I can think of a reason not to sentence them to the Death Penalty. I can think of lots of reasons. But first.

CUT ON THE FREAKIN' EMOTIVE LANGUAGE! Its a serious debate fallacy.

Jesus Christ, your arguing with your R-Complex instead of your cerebral cortex. Its the thing we evolved that gives us the advantage over most other speicies.

So anyway, guilty immates are more often to plea-bargain since they want to be given a life sentence rather then death. But innnocent immates, even with the deck stacked against them never plea bargain, so if the accused is innocent, but convicted of a capitol crime, hes gonna fry.

The Death Penalty is not a deterrent. 80% of all execution occur in the South, but the South has the highest murder rate of any region. (6.7 per 100,000, compared with 5.6 as the national average.) The main reason for this is that any one contemplating, or psychologically leaning towards, murder, is less likely to value their own life, and have a realistic view of their stuation. Most criminals don't take into account the Death Penalty when contemplating murder. And crimes of passion don't involve any thinking on penalties at all.

Also, 67% of Policemen don't consider the Death Penalty an effective crime fighting tool.

i only believe in death penalty on a case by case basis. sometimes, it is more of a punishment for a person to sit in a cell until the day they die and think about what theyve done and make them suffer. by dying, the dont have a chance to think about it any more. btw, did any of you guys hear about those 2 guys in utah who choose to let a firing squad kill them cuz they dont want the injection? what do you guys think about this?

the way that i see it is that the way they do it now it costs to much to do the death penalty. If it was a quicker process i would be all for it. In the end i just want to deal with prisoners in the cheapest manner possible. No point in wasting money on the scum of our country.

If a person murders another human being, they took a life, so why shouldn't the government take their's!!! They don't deserve to live if they do not understand the sanctity of human life!

I think the death sentence is wrong by, when a person kills another person (just one) they get maybe life in prison, maybe the posibilty of parol or maybe jsut 40 years in prison, i personally think that if u commit the crime of taking one persons life i think u should be killed for that and i think the death sentence is right on that if u kill someone u shall be killed the exact same way its only fair! and the right part is jsut that if u kill someone well then u should be perpared to have ur live taken! yes and i know that that doesnt bring back teh victim but it does soemwhat bring justice!!

I have to say I am not against using the death penalty against those who are guilty. However, many people have and still are wrongly convicted and we normally don't find out until after the inicent's life has been taken. I don't think we should use the death penalty unless we are 100% sure which rarely happens. If one inicent life is saved then it's worth not using the death penalty.
