My whole class was told to right a report on what you feel is important, I wrote mine on poverty, Here it is,: (excuse the errors, if there is any)
At this very minute there are children suffering from hunger and sicknesses.
Children that are sleeping and trying hard to make a life on the street.
There are children all over the world spending their lives in slavery to try to help their families provide food.
The UK, Ethiopia and India are where you’re more likely to find children in poverty.
These children have no clothes, food or shelter to help them.
All they’ve got is the skin on the bones and the head on their heads.
Children like these are left to beg for food or die from illnesses.
They don’t get the chance to go to school to learn and they don’t get the chance to fulfil their dreams.
We take drinking water for granted.
For many children around the world it is very difficult to get clean water.
Most of them spend time collecting water from pools and drains and some don’t even see water.
This also leads them to getting severe sicknesses.
The water may be polluted with germs or very dirty.
We should all be thankful for what we have.
A good education, fresh food, water and parents to take care of us.
These are a few things we don’t really think hard about.
We have all of these but many children spread around the world don’t.
Many parents sell their children to help themselves survive and other are put into jail or are dead.
There are now organisations that try to help children in poverty like Save The Children and World Vision.
Eglantyne Jebb is a wonderful woman, who believed that children should have rights.
She was also one of the first people to start a charity for the children in 1920.
She had an article in the newspaper, which caught the eyes of many people.
Surprisingly a lot of money was sent to help the kids.
Thanks to Eglantyne, children now days have rights.
She wrote a declaration in 1923 demanding certain rights for children.
In 1989 it became apart of the United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child.
Now there are advertisements sent in the mail and on the television, trying to find sponsors.
Even just a dollar can be a big help to these children, and can bring them much closer to them achieving their goals and dreams.
It’s up to us to play the next piece and help these children’s lives, so they can have what other kids have and live a happy life.
