In some cultures, they count your age from the moment of conception, not birth.

Perhaps they read it and just decided to ignore it. Razz

Nephilem, you just posted the exact same thing a couple of posts below. If you have nothing new to contribute I don't see the necessity of posting the exact same thing.

Yes but apparently people went ready to stop talking about souls and it got buried.

Now to bring the argument back to abortion killing innocent babies is wrong.

They are alive
They are human
The only difference is how old they are, and whether they are inside or outside of their mother.
Abortions are some times committed at a time that the baby could be delivered and lived, and indeed in some cases the baby survives the abortion, though often the child is killed afterward, or left to die by the abortion staff.

I don't know.... Maybe it has something to do with being the dominant life form....

That was after I asked what made human embryos more "special" than animal embryos.

Basically, if you're opposed to abortion because it's ending a life, you should also be opposed to any form of killing. If not, you need to show why humans matter more than other animals, which is how we got into the soul debate in the first place.

That was before there was a separate post for that debate. I brought it up to answer a position raised by someone else I can’t remember who.

But what is that supporting? The idea that we are not superior to animals and that the issue of souls can’t prove superiority.

What? I'm saying that:
quote:
You can't prove something physical with something metaphysical.

It is something that you should take to heart, Nephilim. Deep to heart. In all the topics you debate. This is a general statement. Stop bringing spirituality and metaphisics into places where they don't belong. And stop trying to prove spirituality with dates and physical evidence.

AND: Would you tell me why you asked me about animals in the first place? I don't give a damn if there's "already a thread about it." I want to know what you were thinking. Call it morbid curiosity.

No, you were using obvious points that have nothing to do with the issue at hand.

That's a ridiculous comparison

I was using obvious examples to make my point.
quote:
Souls have nothing do do with the physical body.

This entire soul thing really doesn’t have any effect on the abortion debate and we are arguing it on the Do animals have souls thread so I am going to drop it here.

The point was brought up that human embryos and fetuses are no different then animal embryos, so I was making the point that we are different.

Souls have nothing do do with the physical body. You can't prove something physical with something metaphysical.

In genetic terms definitely, and according to billions of people also by superiority.

Humans are vain. It's a simple trait that appears after becoming the most powerful species on the planet for a few thousand years.

but it does add another argument in favor of the idea.

Just like how black people are inferior? Hmm, you might be on to something here.

That's a ridiculous comparison. And the Bible requires faith. Some people just don't have it. Wink
