quote: Parasite: An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host.
Lets look at that definition as well. Notice it says “An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism” again a baby and its mother are both the same type of organism. All animals spend some time in their mother, even if they are creatures that develop in an egg. By your argument, all animals would be a parasite for part of their life, because they all start of in their mother.

Definitions, definitions. Here is one I found. Parasite: An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host. I'm not going to argue definitions. Because you will most likely find one that serves your purpose, while I'll find one that does the same. In this case it is all about interpretation. And if LTR wants to interpret it that way, and it fits, then so be it.

quote: Perhaps YOU should read again Nephilem. It says "or."
Yeah on, in or within. It is always in an organism of a different species.

quote: An organism that lives on, in, or with an organism of another species, obtaining food, shelter, or other benefit; especially one that obtains nutrients at the expense of the host organism, which it may directly or indirectly harm.
Alright maybe you should look at you definition. It says and I quote “ An organism that lives on, in, or within an organism of another species.” I’m sorry but the baby and the mother both happen to be humans. Does not meet the definition.

I'm sensing a crack beginning to form in Neph's hard exterior shell... Anyways, going back to the parasite baby discussion, it may help to know that parasites are not necessarily non-human. A parasite can be anything that takes without giving back. Fetuses do this especially well, since their survival depends solely on nutrients provided by the mother's bloodstream, yet the mother doesn't reap any benefits at all until after the baby is born, and even then it depends on how badly the mother wanted said baby. From a certain point of view, fetuses can indeed be considered parasites because they fit one of the definitions of "parasite," namely this one: An organism that lives on, in, or with an organism of another species, obtaining food, shelter, or other benefit; especially one that obtains nutrients at the expense of the host organism, which it may directly or indirectly harm. (OED)

Well if we followed Shade's idea we defiantly would not have to worry about what Future generations would do. Because there would be no future generations! By the way, I thought that you said that abortions are only used when medically necessary.

I think that there's really not much left to argue and so people have resorted in to...other topics.

do you? all you've uttered is mindlish gibberish that I'm certain you found in magazine somewhere or perhaps a self-help book that tries to teach people to be witty. sides at least mine are better than "fuck you" which as I recall third graders don't even use any more.
