Ok so I was watching something on tv about this and it was said there are many women who have several eggs extracted and fertalized, then they have a handfull of them (2-4) implanted for the hope of having a child, the ones that are not implanted the woman can pay for the place to keep them frozen, just in case she decides to use them later. But if she stops payment or just no longer wants them, the company throws them out (thousands a day). The point was made on the show that why arent these being used for stem cell reseach if they are just going to throw them away? In Germany it is actually illegal to freeze an embryo, they will only fertalize what they plan to implant. Freezing them at all in my opinion is wrong, but if they are there are just going to be tomorrows trash then why not use them to save lives? I am very pro life, so this whole thing bugs me, that is why I think freezing them at all is wrong. But I just wanted to put this out there and see what you guys think about this.

logically it would make sense to use them for stem cell research. but then again, there are the ethical issues. many people disagree with stem cell research, and i don't think alot of pro-lifers are going to be too thrilled about it either. it's a moral grey area. hell, i'm pro-choice, and this topic makes me uncomfortable, like anything to do with stem cell research. i mean, it could benefit lots of people, but i dunno. [edit] i actually find it interesting that you posted this in exploitation of children. that's kind of the stem cell issue, isn't it? to do with whether it's a life or not? following the categorical imperative, i guess it's wrong. but if the woman doesn't want the embryos anyway...
