it happens. the sad thing is that kids get abused everyday, and there are probably worse stories than this that have yet to be told - that probably will never be told. the question is, what can we do to help?? where do you start when the whole world is so messed up and already gone so horribly wrong?? what do you do?? you start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can. i hope you all will do that.
Okay, fine!!! Tell me what you think of me.... now ask me if I care...

Omg, Thats sad & sicking.. When I was voulnteering at the hospital i met this little boy who was about 2 years old. He was so black and blue it looked like he was in a car accient. The nurse told me his mother did. A month later I went to a room to read to this little 3 year girl. And she looked healthy and happy with a big smile.. The nurse later told me She was beaten by her foster mother for wetting the bed so bad that she was in a coma for 3 weeks... It was so sad dealing with these 2 cases, I just wated to cry. But like they say if other people don't tell the police will never know and soon it will be took later, police cant go door to door seeing if children are being abuse they need are help. And many times people are more worried about drug bust, etc to even see how many kids are killed my child abuse every year :In 2003, an estimated 1,500 children died of abuse and neglect-an average of more than 4 children per day. SAD!

I read A Child Called It as well. I'm surprised that he survived, let along survive well enough to make something out of his life. I've heard that children are influenced by their family. If you got abused when a child you'd think it was ok to abuse your own child. It just keeps getting worse.
I read that as well, it was a horribly sad story. Did you ever read the book he wrote after that? i don't recall what it was called, but it was about his experiences in foster care after they took him away. we never finished it, but we got through in class was also very sad.
It's called "The Lost Boy" there's also a third one called "A Man Named Dave" if you'd like to continue reading about his life. His younger brother, Russel, also wrote a book about his experiences with The Mother called "A Brother's Journey"

Okay, I just joined this group and I wanted to inform all who are active in this "society" about who I am. My name is steven and David Pelzer (author of "A Child Called 'It'") grew up where I live. I've gone through 4 cases of child abuse myself and survived. I'm only 17 but I'm devoting my time to doing research and doing everything I can to help people like Dave Pelzer and myself. I think people who abuse their children shouldn't be allowed to have children at all. That's just my opinion, if you don't agree that's fine, too. I'm not here to offend anyone, just to give my 2 cents and try to help as many people as I can

Ick, how discusting. How can people hurt innocent children? Especially adopted, you have to go through a lot to adopt, and thats gross that they would harm them.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be quoted, then used against you.

That is a really REALLY sad story. I think that child abuse is disgusting and sick. Just seeing a child being yelled at gets me very upset. I think that anyone who even thinks of hurting a child mentaly or physicly is a HORRIBLE person. I think anyone who has hurt a child should be put away.

This are some very terrible stories, so sad. I just finished reading A child called "it". A very sad story about a child who suffered and survided a very brutal child abuse from his mother. It made me want to cry....okay okay...It did made me cry. And something that really made me think was when I read this quote: Why? What causes the tragedy of child abuse? Is is really as bad as they say? Can it be stopped? And perhaps the most important question, what is abuse like through the eyes of the child?
There is all kinds of child abuse out there; physical, emotional, sexual. I wish that I could wipe it off the world. It is the worst kind of abuse I can think of because this are innocent little children. It just breaks my heart.

My dad once had to tend this girl in the hospital whose dad raped her (front and back), used her as a punching bag, and sh!t on her face. the father was planning on burning her later on. I got to talk to that man, that was scary. Oh, and she was only 6.
