I don't trust kids to make their own decisions. Why even have parents if our kids are just going to make all their own decisions. If I ever catch my daughter wearing a "halter", she will lose her allowance and get fewer luxuries. She won't really have many places to wear one though, her school will have a uniform and so will her extra-curriculars. I would hope that public ridicule from her peers would also prevent her from dressing like that. I have three daughters, one 2, one 6, and one 15. No I will state that we are not a religious family but my daughters are polite, respectful and sweet little angels. My 15yo is an A-B student. my wife and I are good people with solid jobs and moderate lifestyle. My wife and I have bought our girls two piece swim suits since they were born. My 15yo and 6yo both wear halter tops most of the time and i will also admit my 15yo doesn't wear a bra as often as I would like but I let her choose her clothes because she does know what she likes and wants. I don't think she looks like a tramp jsut because she looks sexy. I agree with Lacy16 about giving our kids the freedom to choose on most things not all things but most things and since cloths is a harmless choice we let them pick out what they want most of the time and they do a good job. my daughters dress sexy but they are not tramps or whores! Narrow minded people have a tendency to use false broad generalizations when trying to support a undefendable claim. Raise your kids right and give them enough credit to make their own decisions.

I can't belive you people brought this board back *slaps forehead* but modest looks better in most cases than hooker I've seen girls at dances who wore a harlot dress then next dance looked 8 times better in a modest dress forced on them by parents or boy friends really if done right modest looks good

I've been working on a project and I'm designing modest prom dresses, sending them to prom dress places, along with 100 signatures from girls wanting modester clothing, and 100 signatures from boys saying that they'd rather to be able to look at their date without worrying about seeing something they shouldn't. I'm getting a lot of signatures.

There's a difference between dressy sexy---wearing a halter top that fits you but shows some cleavage and a mini skirt that still covers your ***---and dressing like a tramp, in which you leave absolutely nothing to the imagination. Celtic is correct in what she is saying - most guys DON'T want a girl that dresses like that. They feel they can't trust her. My boyfriend and I will be walking in the mall and before I even see the girl, he'll say something like, "She needs to put some pants on." He doesn't find that attractive at all. I'm not saying you have to shroud yourself from head to toe but girls - especially young girls between the ages of 13-17 - need to cover the parts of their bodies that guys don't need to see unless you're dating them.

I'm not assuming, I am telling you what I have been told (by men) regarding women who dress like harlots. You'll get old even if you live in the gym and your husband is a Beverly Hills surgeon, period. My stand isn't weak, for it's not that of an idiot nor inexpirience. "If you want to be healthier dress sexier!" has to be the most ignorant thing I have heard since the end of the world thing came up in 1999. If you want to be healthy, you eat right, exercise, and when you have sex make him wear a condom. Also, if you want nice perky breasts well into your middle life, wear a bra. Another thing, tell your sources, you'll get mowed over if you don't. Just a tip.

Celtic, again you are making asumptions. Dressing sexy doesn't mean you cheat on your boyfriends or husbands. Are you desprate or what for something to support your weak stand. The cellulite comment was even more stupid. body changes take place in all women as we get older unless we work at staying in shape the clothes we wear have nothing to do with it. That is with one exception. There is a medical study done in England that showed that in a study of 10,000 women those that wore bras had a 3 times higher breast cancer rate. Another study is taking place to confirm the first. So if you want to be healthier dress sexier!

Being a harlot is effective.... Until you get old, and you get cellulite, your breats become sagging non-perky balloons, and your behind grows into the size of a small continent. Also, why would a man trust a female who would show her "goods" to the planet? Most ex-harlots I know say their "transformation" into normal females came when they really loved a guy but they couldn't be with him because he found her untrustworthy and just not worthy in general.

You probably get compliments from men who like hookers. It's not a preference of what I like---it's a preference of how 16 year old girls should dress and a preference of how much of my peers I'd like to see. And it's hard not to look if I'm walking right behind a person dressed trashy or having to move around them in a store or something.

Have you never heard of the term, indecent exposure? There is a difference between wearing what you want and wearing next to nothing. No stranger worth meeting wants to see your ***. No one. I promise. And I'm not saying turtlenecks and ankle-length skirts. How about a happy medium? How about a pair of shorts where your butt isn't hanging out and a top where your breasts aren't falling out? That's all I'm asking. And I beg to differ: It infringes on the rights of my eyes.

So, if a guy dresses like an idiot he shall be treated as one? That doesn't make a lot of sense. Personally, most girls I know who dress like tramps are actually nearly terrified of sex. It's an image they want to give, of sex godesses, of "women". When in truth they're little virgins who see a man naked and tremble. Or like we say here "parabichos" which means, um, man-exciting, but that don't actually do anything. A real sexual female does not need clothing to display or hide her sexuality. She just is.

Thats a good point. Eventually the girls would figure out how the world treats people who dress like that. Which of course is not too kindly unless you work at Hooters. Then ooooh man...!

That's not true. I'm sorry to say that I worshipped the likes of the Spice Girls, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera when I was growing up. Did I ever once ask my mom for a bare midriff top or up-my-*** shorts? Not once. People---even young girls---have minds of their own and can think for themselves. If that's the way they want to dress (however misguided their decision may be), it can't be blamed solely on the media.

girls immitate what they see their idols doing, saying, or wearing. That's how they learn to dress, act, and say things and that's how they are raised on idols like brittany spears.

Parents can only control kids so far, that's the problem, unless the parents stalk the child 24/7.
