Maybe the answer would be to compensate married couples that don't have kids, I for one would definitely go for that!

quote: The problem with this is some women can't take the pill or the patch (as in, women who smoke, for example), and the shot can have terrible side effects.
Very true, but if they don't want children then maybe they can get their tubes tied. I would atleast true one of those things on the mother just to be safe. Of course my plan isn't flawless, but I think that something along these lines could some how be enforced. quote: Or can get an abortion.
Dang it, I was heading in the OTHER ditection with this. quote: The thing with this is, I think I'd give it to the parent after the baby is born and they take care of it, for say, a year. That way, we can see how they are as parents, because we wouldn't know in some cases about parents who'd be abusive till they do it. I think, like check up on them during that year or something often, and if everything seems allright, you can still keep the child.
The thing with this is that alot can happen within the year, and even if things go good the first year, things may change later. The license could reassure that all would be good, and of oourse like every other license it would have to be renewed. quote: Also, a lot of people feel they can raise the child even if the reality is they can't raise a child, such as very young mothers with low-middle class income (I add middle class because if middle-class a family has, say, 3 children, another one is costly), mothers with mental problems, mothers who do drugs, alcoholic mothers, mothers who spent the nights at clubs and doing nothing by day, mothers who have had an accident and therefore are not mentally capable of raising a child, etc. THese women feel they can raise the child. Even if it's not a great idea from their part, it's still your right as a human to havea kid if you want it.
This also is very true but just because they think they can doesn't mean they can. They license testing would determine this, and the parents should have atleast 3 chances for the license. If they can't pass it by the third time then they truly don't deserve the child. They may sound harsh but we all need to think of what's in best interest for children. Some countries actually regulate how many children you can have. quote: THe problem with my thinking is, though, that the child can become attached to the parents, and there's nothing sadder than seeing a child be taken away from their family and the child suffering for it.
I see what your saying and sorta agree. I think that after a certian amount of time the child has the right to decide whether or not it wants to stay with it's parents or not. NOTE: This all is just simply an idea that I have come up with, I know that there are many flaws and mistakes to yet work out before it becomes an argument with any of the governmeant if at all. Please tell me more ideas, suggestions and thoughts and let's try to keep this all nice, it has been so far and I would like to keep it this way. thank you all

quote: Apparently being able to breed and spread your filthy seed is a right that will never be contested here in the good ole U S of A, even if you live in a trailer and already have 6 kids.
This is true, having a seventh child in this case is a rather stupid and off idea. The thing is, no President, I think, will ever be too courageous as to do this license thing, because this is a very very controversial thing, same, or worse as abortion.

I've missed feelings on this. quote: We could put all women on birthcontrol, if she wants children her and her spouse need to get the parenting license.
The problem with this is some women can't take the pill or the patch (as in, women who smoke, for example), and the shot can have terrible side effects. quote: If a women accidently get pregnant and don't pass the parenting test then it goes up for adoption to parents that got the license but isn't able to have their own child.
Or can get an abortion. The thing with this is, I think I'd give it to the parent after the baby is born and they take care of it, for say, a year. That way, we can see how they are as parents, because we wouldn't know in some cases about parents who'd be abusive till they do it. I think, like check up on them during that year or something often, and if everything seems allright, you can still keep the child. Also, a lot of people feel they can raise the child even if the reality is they can't raise a child, such as very young mothers with low-middle class income (I add middle class because if middle-class a family has, say, 3 children, another one is costly), mothers with mental problems, mothers who do drugs, alcoholic mothers, mothers who spent the nights at clubs and doing nothing by day, mothers who have had an accident and therefore are not mentally capable of raising a child, etc. THese women feel they can raise the child. Even if it's not a great idea from their part, it's still your right as a human to havea kid if you want it. So, as I said, I say you get the license to keep it forever after you've raised the kid for a while. THe problem with my thinking is, though, that the child can become attached to the parents, and there's nothing sadder than seeing a child be taken away from their family and the child suffering for it. So I don't know. I guess it depends.

I came up with this idea a few years ago and am amazed to see that you have it as well, nearly word for word. I told this idea to my parents and friends and it was quickly shot down. Apparently being able to breed and spread your filthy seed is a right that will never be contested here in the good ole U S of A, even if you live in a trailer and already have 6 kids.
