St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital's site has a whole list of different fundraisers you can do. If you don't want to send the money to them, you could use their ideas for a fundraiser for a hospital near you, or for some other organization that could use your help. This link will take you to their list:
My pastor's wife and a really close friend of mine has cancer. They both wear wigs made of hair people donated to locks of love. I thank all those people who gave their hair. It is really appreciated, more than you know. Girls in my school give thier hair in donation to Locks of Love every year because a few years ago a girl on our marching band died of cancer. We do it in memory of her. And we know that she would have done it to help others if she could have.
I have been growing out my hair for locks of love and i will be so happy when i can FINALLY chop it off. I keep thinking, what if i went thru chemotherapy, which is a lengthy process that is a horrible experience, and i lost all my hair?
I donated about 14 inches of my hair when school started this year. At first I was afraid that I would miss it because I had really grown to like my "hippie" hair, as my friend called it. I felt so good after I had gotten my hair cut because I knew that somewhere a child would be getting a wig made of my hair and that they would no longer have to be self-concious or embarrassed. I highly recommend to all girls and any guys interested in growing their hair to donate to Locks of Love. It is more than worth it, and as a bonus, you no longer have to take care of so much hair!
I am growing my hair out for locks of love...it needs like 5 more inches.
My family has a long history of cancer-my mom and my grandma have had breast cancer, and my uncle died from leukemia last Christmas (some present, huh.)
My cousin had leukemia but she survived and is doing great!
I think that it is GREAT that people are willing to cut off those amazing locks for people in need. I am actually going to do that as soon as I can get it long enough where I still have some hair left. I am probably going to get it cut REALLY soon. P.S. Isn't the limit 12 inches?
"they have emotional breakdowns because theyre cutting their hair." That's insane. The hair WILL grow back. I've donated my hair once (12 inches) and am growing it out again to donate it again. We do need more red heads in the world, after all .
i see people cut their hair and donate it to locks of love and they have emotional breakdowns because theyre cutting their hair. for some reason that still doesnt seem right to me. yes they are donating their hair but they are only thinking of themselves when they cry over cutting it, instead of thinking how happy someone will be to get their hair. next year i'm donating my hair to locks of love and instead of saying that ive had my hair for 8 years and that its a part of me, im saying ive had my hair for 8 years and enjoyed it, now its time someone else should share my joy.
I am going to try to help out in the Make-a-Wish foundation after I got my wish granted and that deals with a lot of cancer patients and kids who are dying or just suffering from something that will kill them but is under control now which that was my case.
I know what it's like to see someone going throuh cancer, my olde rsister has Lymphoctic Leukemia, and thankfully she's been in remission for a few months now! She's lost all her hair, and since she's mentally handicapped she doesn't really like wearing wigs, but I', glad you guys have taken the time to help poeple like these out. I'm still dealing with my sister's condition, but its getting better! luv ya'allz!
Thats a Great thing your school did, it makes me happy to know that there are other people out their donating their hair. i did, a little less then a year ago, and have never been prouder. me, cutting my hair for it has inspired many people to do so too, my friend, has done so, and it has inspered my boyfriend to start growing out his hair. i just think it's a good thing to do, thank you, for domnating.
I donate my blood to kids with leukemia, I just happen to be O+(O positive), so anyone can use my blood. If you have O+ blood you should donate too, it is rather rare and is the only blood compatible with all blood types.
I donated my hair to Locks of Love my senior year of high school ^^ My hair was all the way down to my tail bone, and I chopped it up to my jaw. I had done it the last day of school after class, but before the graduation cerimony ^^ It was great, I donated all that hair of mine, AND gave my friends quite a shock ~_^
I donated my hair to a different organization then Locks of Love two years ago. My hair is really thick and grows really fast. I have to get it cut again soon and I hope it will be long enough to donate it again. It's a really good feeling when you donate your hair.
